Yep, I believe Thad Matta might be on the way out at Ohio St. They're 5-9 in the Big 10 this year, behind teams like Penn State and Nebraska in the standings. Not good considering the B10 isn't as strong as the ACC, Big 12, or even the Big East this year.

I can understand why they want him out. It's not like the Buckeyes have been very relevant on the national stage the last few years. They went to the Final 4 in 2012 and Elite 8 in 2013 but have struggled mightily since. Last year they went to the NIT and lost in the 2nd round.

My guess is Matta's style of play doesn't suit the direction the NCAA has headed when it comes to the rule changes and such. Adapt or you're gone.

Very few coaches while under contract would state they're interested in another job. So I don't know that this changes anything.

However, I would still be surprised if he did take that job.

I agree, and if Goodman is reporting it, I assume the opposite is true. But, you have to assume all coaches notice how unprofessional Debbie Yow is.

Does State have the nads to fire her, or force her "retirement" based on mishandling this situation? That would probably improve their coaching search

That was my thought. The way she handled the Doran situation, not good. And now this situation. Not good. That's the two cash cows!

RE: NC State to fire Gottfired at end of season
If they can't get the guy they want this year maybe they keep Gottfried for another season and see what happens. I don't think the OSU job is exactly a hot job for a young coach myself and you have to live in Columbus ,Ohio. I would take Raleigh over that in damn second. IU is another story all together as far as basketball goes but they have not exactly been great either since they ran Knight out of town. If it was me picking between NCSU,IU and OSU -that is the order I would pick them in.

It's definitely hilarious. Not only does IU have better History, they have also been more relevant since Knight left and it's really not close. As far as the "he's got to live in Columbia" he's already living in Dayton!

If UNCW could get refs like the UNC/NCSU game tonight, we'd be undefeated in the CAA. They are letting them play!

The logical order for any sane individual not named Mullet is probably IU, OSU, and THEN the dumpster fire in Raleigh.

I was talking about ME and what I would want to do. Archie Miller will do what he wants to do and it does not matter what we think he should do. We all know IU is a historic program and a place you can win NCAA tourneys. I don't think OSU is even close to being the same program that NCSU has been and I don't think they should fire the coach there based on what he has done at a school they really only cares about football. Dayton is a hole for sure but Columbus is not exactly paradise.

Shows just how clueless Yow is and always has been. She would have been smart when he asked if he could stick around to say absolutely not. So glad she left Maryland when she did. Not sure what NCSU ever saw in her.

I love ACC basketball and would like top see NCSU be a great program again. I don't really give a hoot what you guys think about it and guess what? The coaches we are talking about don't either. Miller or Keatts would do a great job there I think and I am betting on whoever gets the job will be a success there. Its the best conference for college basketball and its in our backyard.

OSU has won 7 conference titles since 2000, and has been to the postseason Every year since 2004! How the hell is state a better job?

I think it had everything to do with what a great person Kay Yow was. There was a sentimental connection.

Now, on to the Seahawks. It's game day!
