MB, you cannot have it both ways. If when they lose and look unhappy, it's a reflection of the coach's personality, then when they win and look all smiles, that also is a reflection of the coach's personality. So right now, JJ is looking pretty damn good according to your theory.
Truth be told, I think Big Bluezilla hit the nail on the head. Winning puts smiles on everybody's faces. I bet even you smiled last night!

One game doesn't get JJ out of the doghouse with me, but it helps. Gotta start somewhere. Go undefeated or just one loss the rest of the season and making the tournament championship game would restore some faith in him. An NCCA berth and he's a turnaround specialist extraordinare

If anything it just shows they are capable. The hope is strong.

Indeed. A lot of posters called for this lineup very early on this season.

Absolutely. Now that we see the potential it must be replicated. FAU followed their comeback against us with 2 losses at home. We need to finish strong at home.

I dont even think that lineup did well together. The lineups with Carver isnwhqt reall spread the gap

I went back and watched the game. That lineup excelled and caused serious problems for UAB. Brandan spotted up and missed and Porter came down with the rebound and went up strong. Then Brandan posted and Porter knocked down a jumper. The lineup with Carver played well too but we can have Porter and Brandan on the floor at the same time.

Did you even watch the game? That lineup was easily the best we played the entire night.

I think the lineup with Stith/Porter did ok for sure. The team with Carver scored 2 ppp and gave up 1.1. Stith was 1.15-1.01. Porter was 1.6-.99. While stith/porter was ok, Carver/Porter excelled.
Edit: porter/Carver was ok, but the stretch were it went from about 12 to 25 was Stith/Carver.

I wish I could know if that was the plan all along to play the obvious lineup but something was missing in practice.

I've always thought of his weakness as being a motivator. He clearly motivated tonight.
Something definitely worked. My response was triggered by the fact that an argument was being made based on one game, when there is an awful lot of evidence to the contrary. Lets hope JJ found the right button to push and this does become a trend, but hold off on saying "see, JJ is great. Look how we played Saturday night" until it has been sustained.

I just addressed this in the post above this one, so I won't rehash that part, but I will add that this isn't the first game we have won. We are well above .500 and in the top quarter of the conference. It isn't just about winning.

Agree. Some people, JJ included it seems, see Brandan and Trey as too similar to play together. I see them as perfect complements to each other offensively. Both can hot a little jumper and draw one big out of the paint. Porter can post if he is defended one on one and Brandan can be havock on the boards if Porter draws one out. They can also both hit the glass and cause problems there. My opinion is that some are just too hung up on the potential defensive struggles that one would face guarding a 4, but I don't believe that would be enough to negate the positives.

I love them both, wish they played together more but they are both prone to foul trouble it seems.

That is true, but I wonder how Porter would react to knowing he was going to be counted on for playing 28 minutes instead of 15. I have a feeling he would be a bit more conscious of not committing bad fouls.

RE: Head coach Jones
None of us I presume knows the impact of Porter's diabetes, the severity of it, and how that impacts how he is being used. That may have something to do with the situation, or it may have nothing. But diabetes affects all sorts of people in all sorts of ways, so just because one basketball player has it and plays X minutes doesn't mean they all can.
