Trott was on a 3 year deal the others were year to year and the article says they are working on new deals. 75k added to the base is a huge deal for us. When you throw in this year's incentives netted 87.5k (they will go up next year the way I read it) he has the opportunity to pull in nearly a half million a year. That should really help us keep him around.

The pay might be better else where in low G5 but when you add the facilities, atmosphere, etc here it should really make him think twice!!

The reality of FCS -

The lowest base paid in FBS is Doug Martin at New Mexico State - $376,044.

Using my JMU mathematics that tells me he still makes less than every FBS coach in America.

I think it was a solid proactive move by JMU, but again he would make a higher base working for any FBS team in the country.

A very good investment. Ticket sales should grow. Not just next year, but continuing forward in 2018 and so on. Along with that comes DC contributions, apparel sales, etc.

The Harrisonburg/Rockingham/Valley business community will reap benefits as well. We can all help this investment by giving, buying tix, etc.

That was the part of the article that really stuck out to me as well. That speaks to me about the kind of guy he truly is. He realizes the sacrifices his family has had to make and doesn't want to keep doing that. At the same time, his signing of the extension shows his commitment to JMU and its success.
Major kudos to the JMU admin for doing this right. No attempt in trying to be cute and give the guy the raise and extension he deserves.
JMU is in a position to be dominant for years to come and it's a wonderful feeling.
