3 schools in 6 years.

With appearances in two NCAA football championship games, D2 and FCS. He isn't staying around for five figure salaries with that success

We don't need our program built, it already is. Need it sustained and if possible taken to next level (whatever that may be).

So from that standpoint he may not want to move into another man's castle.

PJ pretty much tore down his castle when he left... especially if he takes his entire staff along with his 2017 class... I think we have momentum with regard to great visibility from last season and some great athletes still on this team... But without a system in place any longer... there really isn't a "program".... Remember how CMU, Toledo and NIU kept their "program"s together... hiring within. So far I haven't seen anything that makes me think that will happen here... we would have seen an interim if that was on the table... Fleck likely closed ranks quickly when he took the Minn job...

Whoever we hire better be exceptional at building up QB's... We need to hit the ground running (pun intended) with a new QB that can overcome our lack of WR depth ... Lester obviously sticks out... but I see him more as an OC at this point then an HC... I get a real Darnell/Cubit taste when thinking about Lester becoming the next HC... Who knows... Darnell and Cubit had some success... but we soared past that during the Fleck years... I fear stepping back into those previous years...

I'm guessing he'll get put on the consideration list, given he was on the list 4 years ago too.

I don't know too much about Lester post-WMU. So someone would have to sell me on why he'd be the best candidate out there (other than he's a Bronco at heart).

Loved Lester as a Bronco QB, but he's had only modest success as a Head Coach. Certainly there are better candidates out there for consideration.

I'll hold off on expressing a preference for any one candidate because:

1) I trust KB's overall track record of hiring coaches.
2) Whoever we hire is going to need our support right from the go, for many reasons: winning over the current team, preventing transfers, trying to pull the recruiting class together, and meeting immediate expectations as a first-year head coach.

No matter who we hire, the expectation that coach should be held accountable is very simple, IMO: winning another MAC championship. The talent is already in place to meet this goal. A subpar recruiting class in 2017 due to the coaching change should have no bearing on that.

If I had to guess at this point, I'd bet on "the field" over any of the candidates listed here or in recent posts. The "wild card" possibility is a very strong one.
