In theory, all of the Assistant ADs may want to apply. Although they could still apply as Assistant AD, it may be his preference to not give one of them the appearance of being favored. Just my thoughts. I have no knowledge of what's going on with the search or the process of naming and interim.

This is why I think Evans (who is black) is off the table. If he's hired, it'll just fuel the conspiracy that some of our fans/alums have that Bennett is trying to turn USM into a SWAC school.

The ignorance of those people is unbelievable. I hear people all the time talk about how much "blacker" the campus is getting. But the numbers just don't back that up. It's just good ole fashioned racism. I even had a buddy of mine that wouldn't send his kid to USM after they hired Bennett because "it'll be just like Jackson State in a few years".

Agree. I posted a month or so the IHL numbers, black % went up during Aunt Martha's tenure. Black % has actually gone down since RDB took office.

Varnell was one supposedly targeted by the General as wretched excess. Her choice would make his head pop off!
My issue with Bennett is quite simple yet not emotional, I don't believe USM should be run by another person with a do-nothing resume. Dude ran a department at his last gig that didn't raise or manage money, how does he have the ability to lead anything with a budget the size of ours? I don't see where being dean of diversity at an $ec school qualifies you to run this place any more than I did with Saunders puny azz resume...and we saw how that turned out.
And finally, the "O" reference...a clear hack at the PC establishment. I don't like censorship from the Left or the Right thank you!

Personally, I don't give two chits about any individual's personal details when making a hire. I want whomever it is that can do the job better than anyone else in that moment. When we're hiring for any job here, we should go after the persons that we don't have to explain who they are/where they're from/what they are because only 16 people know anything about them! I'd simply suggest hiring someone that makes their own news stories because of their innovation and awesomeness.

Some fans/alums should no longer be paid any attention, to be perfectly honest. Anyone who thinks hiring a former and very successful AD of the University of Georgia is part of a plot to turn USM into an FCS program clearly falls into that category. Those would be the same nimrods who thought Giannini was a better choice than Morrison and Hammond was a better choice than Carr.

I know very well who Varnell is and I don't want her even taking out the trash in the athletic department. What I took offense to was the assertion that Bennett has some big racial agenda. We have no evidence of that whatsoever and actually have evidence to the contrary.
