Everyone played, everyone scored. Good minutes for the bench and nice to see several players who had been nicked up getting some good amount of time on the floor...will help as we head to conference games.

Nice win, ladies! By the way were JK or any from the administration there? Was there any talk of Bailiff's retention?

Only Josh and Jana at the game and no interaction about the announcement.

Great game by the ladies but SHSU does not have much.

SHSU was picked 9th in the preseason Southland poll. They are terrible. They are 0-7 now.

Great win by the ladies. The guys should have won but have to make the free throws.

USA Today moved Rice up one spot from 149 to 148. We remain 6th in Conference USA.

I forgot the point of my post -- ULM is the absolute worst team in Division I. They are last in the RPI. Yikes.

The women face the same RPI scheduling problem the men do. After this year both teams should be able to being better competition as the potential opponents won't see an RPI hit for just playing us.

If we can maintain this rpi of around 100-125 for the rest of the year, we should be able to schedule some really good games next year.

I haven't watched any of the women's games, but worth noting that the #2 and #3 scorers on the team (Goodwine and Hawkins) are both seniors. They are the top-2 in minutes played and FT%. Hawkins is #1 in assists and Goodwine is #1 in blocks. I'm not saying the talent will or will not go up. But unlike this year's men's team, there are a few strong contributors that will be graduating. This isn't really a "young" team, though another year will also mean more of Langley's recruits will be on the roster.

True, Hawkins and Goodwine will be missed. Langley seems to be getting more from the existing talent than our prior coach could. However, she has also taken recruiting up by a lot. In addition to the Ogwumike sisters, we will have two strong freshmen entering next year: a 6'2" center and the #30 shooting guard in the nation (per ESPN ranking):

http://www.riceowls.com/sports/w-baskbl/...16aam.html

I'm pretty confident that we will take another significant step forward next year. That said, I'm also excited for conference play this year. So far, our women have a higher RPI rank than the men (120 v 167). They have also pulled ahead of the men in the Massey ranking (108 v 117) after trailing for most of the year to date. If the Massey rankings hold, both the men and women could finish third in conference.

The Pepperdine transfering sisters (and sisters of Stanford's former all-american and #1 draft pick), who are sitting out this year, are better than anyone graduating from this year's team.

Isn't the Arizona transfer also sitting out this year and also considered quite good? I sort of think of her as the female Koulechev, though that is probably completely wrong on several levels.
