Marshall did 4 straight bowls in Detroit. It was the only MAC tie in and you had to win the championship to even go to a bowl.

Tell me why ODU fans dont have the right to be a little upset that this is impossible for most fans to attend?

Our AD agreed to it. If we want to get mad at anyone, we need to get mad at Wood.

Players will love it and it should definitely help with recruiting. As for me, I'm ecstatic we are bowling but frustrated I won't be able to be there.

What a bunch of *******. Whining over getting a bowl game this early in your infancy in the freakin Caribbean of all places.

We were bowl eligible in our second year of I-A (6-5 in 1999) and didn't even get a sniff. Went 8-3 in our third season and La Tech refused to negotiate to help us land a bowl that wanted us - which helped a P5 school get into a bowl instead of us.

Our first bowl was in freakin Detroit. So, cry me a river.

Congratulations Old Dominion on your first bowl invite. Although difficult logistics for fan support the players will love it.

Great season and good luck

Better to be bitchin' about a bowl location than bitchin about being left out of a bowl.

RE: ODU to the Effing Bahamas for our first bowl ever
It's going to be hard for many ODU fans to make the trip to the Bahamas, especially after the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament. Anything on the mainland would have been better for fan participation, but we can't do much about picking where the bowl game is. Hope ODU pulls out some 'reasonable' fan packages for people that would like to go but not spend $$$.

Sounds like a great bowl for the team though!

Wood had no other option.

I agree that it is better that we are going. I just dont see why fans dont get a pass for being upset about location.

RE: ODU to the Effing Bahamas for our first bowl ever
MT's first bowl game was in Detroit the day after Christmas. I left my extended family Christmas in Atlanta early to drive back to campus and get on a bus at midnight to ride through the night, barhopped in the snow, got our asses beat by CMU and got back on the bus less than 24 hours after arriving.

It was...less than ideal.

This sucks for you guys, but it happens, take a deep breath, you're being a bit dramatic.

ODU and us fans should be proud of the season and the chance to extend it. But it's a little dispiriting to be going to the same bowl at 9-3 that they might well have gone to at 6-6.

Yeah, I mean ODU football worked their butts off this year, they deserve the Bahamas. Sorry for the fans, but the majority wouldn't be able to travel to any bowl game anyways. At least the team will be happy.

I'm excited for the team. Not excited for the fans though. My passport expires 10 days before the game. 03-banghead

Don't you guys have 2 FCS wins in your 9-3 record?

Not pissed about it...just disappointed. The bus trip probably costs far less than 3k dollars.

Again, ecstatic for a bowl game. Just wish it was in the states where we could have shown our typical strong support.

As Bit-9 said, happy for the players though. Once in a lifetime opportunity, possibly.

Guys, the Bowls now make the choices. They rightfully want butts in the seat to help them pay the bills. Of course, CUSA could always say that they want the conference or the teams to choose who goes where. But be prepared for several of the bowl tie ins to be lost.
