WSJ: BREAKING GWB White House ethics lawyer Richard Painter says he's filed a Hatch Act violation complaint against James Comey.
At least some of the GOP have some form of ethics and integrity left. The spin room should take up the lessons shown here, but for far too many it's team over country.

Good, that will piss off Comey enough to slap the handcuffs on Hillary ASAP.
Ain't it cool Mach?

Sucks to be you today doesn't it. You are proving for all to see today what a joke you are. Go get drunk and come back tonight wanting to bet everyone. That was one of your finer moments.
Mach's problem today is that, normally, other libbies like Max, Tom, and Lazy Tom are on here begging him to stop embarrassing himself and others. But right now, they are all missing in action. So no intervention for him today.

Filing the Hatch Act against Comey is political theater.
If Comey had been sitting on the evidence for a while waiting for a peak time to release it, you could argue he was trying to affect the election but Comey had zero control over the timing of getting the news about the Weiner Laptop.
When he announced no indictment in July he left room to reopen if new info came to light. It did. He let the Justice Department know about the new evidence and then he reopened the case and let representatives of both parties know it was happening at the same time.
"The Hatch Act of 1939 is a piece of United States federal legislation which prohibits federal employees, employees of the District of Columbia and certain employees of state and local governments from engaging in partisan political activity."

The reason Lynch probably got this guy to do this is because he isnt currently a member of the executive branch. If he were, his actions and column today would, in of itself, be a violation of the Hatch act. So she had to find a minion outside of the executive branch to do her bidding.

If I'm following your line of thought I agree Lynch may have chosen Painter for that reason but…
I would think the White House ethics lawyer is a federal employee so by his filing this ethics violation complaint, Painter himself may have violated the Hatch Act injecting himself into an election filing a complain that he has no standing on.

They are not an aggrieved party in the matter.
I dont think he's the current white house ethics lawyer, which gets him off the hook of the Hatch Act. However, he could have ethics charges brought up against himself, because in the report that Mach provided, he states that he doesnt know if it was political or not. Thats a problem. You dont file an ethics complaint on someone frivolously, less you get one filed on yourself.

In that case we would have to throw the #2 guy in the FBI and the whole Justice Department and IRS in jail.

Good point. He could face charges under the Minnesota Law Society (or whatever the name is). Frivilous case, filing without any facts.
This is like filing a complaint with your local police station against an officer. The end result is a "thank your for your concern" and a new piece of paper to be shredded and thrown out.

Nobody takes this seriously.
And are we even sure he is a Republican? Just because he worked in W.'s administration doesn't guarantee he is a Republican. Even Obama had a Republican or two in his cabinet.
