Georgia Southern planning $1 million in upgrades to baseball stadium
http://www.gseagles.com/news/2016/10/26/...-2017.aspx
No seating expansion, but ought to be looking nice for the Sun Belt tournament in May.
Not sure why we need a 24-foot high fence in right field, that seems like it puts a team like ours that has been better at home runs than timely hitting at a disadvantage.

Personally, I think it will be cool to have a feature like "the blue monster." I wish there were some renderings to see how it will all look when put together.

What's the fence distance before getting to the wall?

Obviously you've never been to Jonesboro in April and May. The Wind never changes direction.

Wind will probably be pretty much nonexistent in Statesboro in late May, if that was what was being asked.

Reports of Coastal and Louisiana having the top facilities in the SB and some of the best nationally must have really stung the folks from Statesboro.

Baseball is important in the SBC so this is just trying to keep up in the arms race.

Glad to see Southern invest some money in the facility. It needed a semi face lift to bring some excitement to the facility and local fans. I think this could energize some of the local fans who haven't been to a game in a while.

Agree with this as well. SBC is becoming a premiere conference for college baseball. Addition of CCU is only going to bring more creditability to the elite teams that exist in the SBC.
Personally, I hope other teams in the SBC follow and continue to upgrade facility every 4-8 years.

Becoming? It's been in the top ten for the most part for the last few decades. Getting two on like the last year is bare minimum.

RE: Georgia Southern planning $1 million in upgrades to baseball stadium
The thing schools need to understand is, baseball can be a moneymaker. Give fans a good venue, promote it properly and put a good product on the field and you can take a spring sport and turn it into something good.
More and more AD's are realizing that.
Ga Southern and UL are putting money into their facility. Georgia State just made a huge purchase for the future. Arkansas State AD said baseball facility is the next priority. Texas State, App State and Troy have recently put $$ into their park.
It's now been a decade since the South Alabama renovation. New scoreboard and, most importantly, an overhang to shield spectators from the brutal late season sun needs to get done.
UTA needs to step up. That place could be a solid facility with a few million dollar upgrade.
That leaves ULM and Little Rock. I will say, LR is a damn sight better than it was fifteen years ago. But there's only so much you can do there, especially with the location.
Honestly, ULM was considered jewel when it was built. But that was going on 35 years ago and, outside of a few walls in the press box, a new scoreboard that is already outdated and a remodel of the locker rooms, they've done virtually nothing.

We may not be a Third World Country in the SB baseball facilties arms race, but we're way behind.
