Are these projections implying an App State losing streak? I would think that the New Orleans Bowl or the Dollar General Bowl would be App's most likely destination based on the standings and on-the-field play so far. Cure Bowl is theSBC's fourth choice; Arizona is fifth.

yeah I highly doubt app goes to Tucson unless mountaineers or Zona bowl reps rally really hard for the slot

RE: Week 9 bowl projections
I will say back door politicking was certainly the case back in 2008 when the Detroit motor city bowl (which became the little Caesars pizza bowl before it ceased operations) was trying to decide between Astate and FAU as an at large (big ten didn't have a team to send). We beat the owls in Jonesboro 28-14 and both ended up 6-6, 4-3 in conference play. The Fau administration offered to buy their entire ticket allotment, whereas we maintained we would bring a far larger crowd than the owls.
FAU went on to beat CMU 24-21.

I would agree, I think they are having a hard time picking the Sun Belt this year though because teams that looked so great in OOC play have terrible league records, and teams that looked terrible in OOC play are at the top of the standings.
In other words, AState and USA are screwing up the projections. If South was to get eligible, could they get into a hometown Dollar General bowl on the strength of a Christmas game and a win over SDSU? If AState finishes at or near the top of the league, will they get an upper tier SBC bowl based off their record and attendance, or will the bowls punish them for losing to Central Arkansas and send them a long way off?
Then we have the whole Cajun conundrum. Cajuns in theory can still get eligible, if they do, would New Orleans potentially take a 6-6 team over a Troy/App?

Wheeling and Dealing also got us into the Go Daddy Bowl in 2013 as a 7-5 team over a WKU team that finished with 8 wins and beat us in the regular season. Conference office famously pushed hard for a WKU bid, but AState maintained the "you know we'll travel well" card and ended up beating Ball State.
That was the year Texas State also finished bowl eligible but didn't get in. I know Cat Mom absolutely loves to talk about that year.

We finished ahead of them in league play. Shall I post the rules AGAIN?

Oh, I fully believe the league would never have forced Go Daddy to honor those rules. Benson loved him some WKU
Fans raised hell about the rules, but we got that bowl based off of Mohajir's negotiating skills.

Remeber the guy who sent the rules all over the league?
He is a stand up guy for sure.

My thinking is that first and second in the league will have at least 9 wins and could have more without needing any sort of breaks (unless AState goes crazy and wins the next six games).
I think you should just pencil in Troy for NOLA and App for Mobile unless something dramatically changes.

It would be nice if there was a championship designated bowl and all others went after teams in no particular order. Orlando would be ideal and far more appealing than Montgomery, AL. Mobile sounds like it could be a fun place to head to as the chill starts to settle in up here.

We aren't geographically compact enough and don't have the size of fan bases to make a designated champion bowl work for everyone.

How was downtown Montgomery for the bowl game last year? They have some pretty cool places now to hang out. Mobile was fun last time we went. The city supports it well. The NOLA bowl is an afterthought in New Orleans, but it's still New Orleans. Lots of fun!

It could be a very unfortunate draw for App State. I've been told rematches are won by the team who lost in the earlier matchup 80% of the time in CFB.

The wife and I arrived Thursday night and enjoyed the weekend in Montgomery. Having all the App fans stay close together made it very festive.

A-State does not have to go crazy to win the next 6 games, and even playing close to their talent will do it.
If of course you MUST shut your arrogant, cocky, conceited, flaky, goofy, jerk of a head coaches mouth to do so ( I know he is what you get in the south when you mix religion, football or politics for that matter) , but I'm assuming, like most, that based on how things have gone since the UCA game your AD has already had his come to Jesus talk with Anderson.
Don't get me wrong I think your coach has great potential, but he needs an adult to keep him between the ditches while he grows up.

I enjoyed it down there. Obviously, Montgomery isn't Vegas, but there were a few cool bars and restaurants in the renovated section of downtown. The one we went to was filled to the brim with App fans, so it was great for us. I'm a big southern history buff, so it was cool to see that part as well.
And you're right about the city going all out. Montgomery definitely made us all feel at home, and the stadium was pretty alright, if a bit in need of a renovation.
