Oct. 19, 2016 Baseball

Springs Brooks Stadium, home of the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers baseball program was ranked 9th among Division 1 Baseball Parks in a recent D1Baseball.com ranking.

LAFAYETTE, La. – M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field, home of the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball program, was tabbed one of the top ballparks in the nation as The "Tigue" was ranked 18th in a recent D1Baseball.com ranking,

"We are very proud of this recognition," head coach Tony Robhicaux said. "We are also very proud of the company that we share of great stadiums, conferences and universities. Our coaches, players, University, the city of Lafayette, the Acadiana area and our Ragin' Cajuns fan base have created an atmosphere that is very unique. We believe with our current facility upgrade, we will have one of the best baseball stadiums in the country."

The poll was conducted with NCAA Division I baseball full-time coaches and sports information directors and rated stadiums based on traditions, amenities, setting, atmosphere, food and intimidation factor.

Along with being rated 18th overall, M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field was ranked top 10 in the nation in Best Ball Park Food (5th), Best Ballpark Traditions (6th), Most Intimidation Venue For Opponents (7th) and Best Family Atmosphere (10th). The Tigue was also named the best ballpark in the Sun Belt Conference.

Quite the accolades there. Always dreaded playing the Texas and Louisiana teams in travel ball growing up.

Must be nice. Two very nice places. Glad for y'all. Wish we could get something at least in the same universe.

Disch-Faulk doesn't impress me.
Maybe I'm not into artificial turfs in college, or something. I also don't find it aesthetically pleasing.

Hey, I can have an opinion, right?

Never been to CCU or The Tigue but from what I have seen they come off as my kind of ball park for college.

JI Clements doesn't compare to CCU and the Cajuns new digs, but it's a cool park and holds it's own. And we're getting some improvements to prepare for the tournament this year. I'm very excited we're hosting the tournament for this conference.

Yep. At least until the renovations are done in Lafayette. Even then, you still might.

Looking forward to the weekend of April 7 when I can see CCU's ball park in person.

Number of fans really helps these rankings.

I've been to probably 10 games at Disch-Faulk. Rarely is the atmosphere impressive.

It's a nice park, but it's mostly filled with golf-clapping blue-hairs. Erwin Center (Texas's basketball arena) is even worse.

I absolutely cannot stand turf baseball fields either. If we ever went turf I'd be angry.

While I'm not a huge fan of turf, G5 schools should have it.

It cuts down on field maintenance costs and labor. In many cases, the players and coaches are the grounds crew. Turf allows them to be players and coaches.

I'm overjoyed we have turf at "Tigue" Moore.

And ANYONE with climate issues should have it. Should be the first order of business in any upgrades at Arkansas State.

We have turf outside the foul lines

We also surprisingly have "turf" at the plate including the batters boxes

We have a world class grounds crew. They are amazing, it helps when the tech school across the street has one of the best turf management programs in the country.

And work at the "Tigue" continues. It's hard to see but they are working third base to first base with concrete and steel. They are forming in preparation for concrete work to the right while stacking steel just out of camera view to the left.
