ONLY a 16-point loss. I smell contract extension (why does it smell like s_ _t?).

This was not as bad as I thought it could be - we were able to put 28 pts on the board and had some good drives. Defensively, we are terrible, especially in the secondary. The big plays are a result in poor prep, practice and schemes from D coaching (or lack thereof).

Penalties in key situations are still happening and hurting us (holds, roughing the passer, false starts on 4th down, etc.). Just talking about mistakes is not enough. Benching guys, additional running, other things need to be done to get the team's attention. Senior leaders need to step up and hold the team accountable.

I think you answered your own question at the end...player-coach! That way we don't have to pay them!

Any one capable of not winning any games could serve as a placeholder that could maintain status quo pending the permanent hire.

I agree heart... Unless I can clear RU's schedule, I really don't see any point in making a move today.

I totally agree. We showed up. I think we played better than USM expected.

Better than USM expected. The hallmark of excellence. What interim coach could possibly do better?

Really. Did you see the box score. 41 points with 3 turnovers and took a knee at the end. Looks like 60 plus - 28. Moral victory. I want what you're smoking

Just joining the end of this thread, but did I see that we gave up nearly 700 yards?

Pretty good deadpan delivery, then? I thought I overdid it.

RE: Southern Miss Gamethread
What did we learn??

Worst team in FBS (Bowling Green) gives up 558 yards/game. We gave up > 600 total. We should be worst in FBS after this game. Mullens sets another record with 591 in the air..

We gave up 4 plays > 70 yards. Typical.

Score was closer than the game w/ USM turnovers. Reality was more like 56-21 game. This is So. Miss, not Alabama that Rice played tonight.

Kids play hard but Rice is very bad football team at 0-5. Best case 5-7. Likely case now 3-9. Sigh.
