Ball State Game - "Captain Obvious" Question lol
Sooo, rental car and hotel booked - My lifelong dream of visiting Muncie, Indiana is on the cusp of coming true - You guys know I'm a vet of these crazy roadtrips; just making sure I'll be able to walk up and buy tix at Shueleman Stadium (sp?). Not planning on buying in advance, but just making sure. Friends meeting me down there, looking forward to it! Also - tailgating question - If you've done BSU before, what is a trad. NIU tailgating lot there? I'll have the grill, and yes the crabcakes and buffalo chicken strips, so feel free to stop by. I'll let you know what vehicle to look for when I get my assignment from Enterprise on Friday. Just need a new "Rust Belt Rock" mix for the trip, and I'll be good to go!

Look forward to hopefully seeing some of you there. I'll have Ladders, Cornhole, and some other games. Anyone know if the 3 hours before start time for tailgating is hard and fast there, or if you just show up earlier and it doesn't matter?

No matter how sad the season is, Go Huskies!!!!!

P.S. Hopefully I'll see some of you at Kent State on Black Friday as well.

You definitely won't need tickets in hand. I would classify myself as moderate road supporter. Probably get two road games a yea but for some reason the Muncie weekend always works out for me. 7th trip in a row this year to Muncie dating back to 04. Only bad experience was the dreaded Lou holtz national broadcast game when bsu was ranked

To answer your question about tailgating...

4 years ago the GA parking it's in a grass lot just across the street that if first come first park. If it rains the day before up to game time I'm not sure if they close the lot...saying that because it rained 2 days before I went and the lot was squishy with big mud ruts.

We showed up 30min before the game and were only 5 rows away from the front so 3hr ahead of time should get you close to front row.

I will be there going solo while my wife and kids visit a family friend 30min away so I will get to pay attention to ALL the game!

If its like 4 years ago...

West side is the Alum side with the visitor section on the North side where the visiting team comes out of the locker room.

East side is GA and where the students sit.

South endzone bleachers are likely cheap seats but I wouldn't want to sit there.

The North Endzone grass seemed fun for families with bounce houses open during the game.

Tailgate opens 3 hours before hand. They do a piss poor job of handling it sometimes so there can be a wait.

Recommended food places: Scotty's Brewhouse is on campus. Brothers Bar and Grill is also on campus. Both are fine. Personal favorites are Savages's Ale House (good beer) and Thr3ee Wisemen (Pizza/beer). They are downtown but only a few minutes away.

My go to in Muncie is the Fairfield off of Bethel. Its about a mile away or a 5min drive.

Do not stay at the Cardinal Inn or Days Inn. The Super 8 is serviceable and in the same area as the Fairfield.

Hopefully the Baymont is good! I'm booked there!

Not that small. As of 2010 the population of Muncie was 70,000.

FYI....grass tailgate lot is closed. I think you can tailgate in the concrete parking around the lot but those spaces are limited and will be taken up pretty quickly. You can park and tailgate in the Worthen Arena lot near the tennis courts and there is a shuttle that will take you to the stadium. It's a moderately short walk too.

Just wanted to say thanks to the BSU posters for offering information and positive suggestions for helping our traveling fans to have a good game day experience in Muncie. You guys/gals are class acts.

Gosh, I hope it doesn't rain in Muncie. The Huskies don't play well in rain.......or heat, or high humidity, or high elevation, or snow, or cold, or cloudy days, or beautiful days, or when it's light or dark out. The jury is still out on indoor games.
