It's really a shame that both teams are at their lowest points since Georgia Southern joined the league.
Can you imagine meeting in the first two seasons?
Southern would have massacred our defensive line in 2014, but last year would have been a hell of a game.

RE: Georgia Southern at Arkansas State discussion.
I'm interested to watch strictly to see if the GS offense improves. I believe stAte should be favored by at least a touchdown based on nothing other than my lack of confidence in our offensive coaching staff. There will be at least three offensive series were we run into the middle of 4 unblocked defenders then punt. We line up in a way that may as well announce what play we're running. Perhaps if everyone on the stAte defense falls on their belly at the snap we could manage a 20 yard rush.

question for GS fans, what has your coach done in the first 4 games that makes you doubt him?

I'm not writing him off, but I have some concerns with his direction.

1) I believe we have more concussions under this staff this year than the 2 years combined under Fritz.

2) Calling out the message board on his radio for going after kids, when the criticism was 99.9% on the coaching staff. Bush league move trying to set up players in a straw man argument.

3) Turning Breida into an ordinary RB.

4) General sloppiness of games (penalties, tackling, blocking)

5) That awful formation that appeases the TO crowd.

6) Calling timeouts in the last minutes of the Western Michigan game... another bush league move.

Head Coach maybe nothing himself, but it's the dual OC's that has most fans in meltdown mode. It could be personnel, but more likely the coaching itself. I'm not a big X's and O's guy so for me it's just a gut feeling based on what I've seen and the results. It's weird though, we actually do move the ball pretty well. Against ULM we had over 300 yards on 4 offensive drives (ULM punter was amazing, kept pinning us back inside our 10yd line) but only 6 points to show for it. We seem to shoot ourselves in the foot a lot. The offense is also very predictable 90% of the time with a few trick/misdirection plays mixed in. Also, and I think this is the biggest thing, our backs are not getting their usual big runs (especially Brieda). The coaches love to run it up the gut for a yard and then repeat. The OL just can't seem to block very well and very few holes are opened up for the backs to run through. It is just bad we have a hard time establishing the run. The OL also had made a lot of mistakes and penalties that was cleaned up a lot against WMU, but that took 4 games for the coaches to figure out. Defense is ok, but we need to get a lot more pressure on opposing QB's. Can't let them sit there for 5-10 seconds waiting for a WR to get open.

We just have a lot of talent (and seniors) this year not to be competitive in every game. The only game I think should be an upset for GS to win given our talent and experience is the Ole Miss game. All others should be easy wins or at least close. Fans just aren't confident this staff can make it at this level. Head Coach is the 3rd youngest in FBS and a lot of the staff have little to no experience coaching at this level. GS fans are not known for their patience and that is probably what this new staff needs. I'll see what happens next week, but I feel we will be making similar mistakes for most of the season.

I just think he is just over his skis a good bit. To be expected being his first HC job but this is not rec league being young does not get you extra time. This goes with worrying about background noise in the media and fans as well. Saban could give a crap about what any fan thinks or posts on a message board and or social media.

The offense is just all over the place. Why we are trying deep timing routes or think we have the QB's to throw folks open or go through progressions is beyond me.

It should be quick throws just past the LB's if they are cheating up. Unless we are sneaking a RB into the pass pattern where he has a chance of being uncovered going down field has been a coin flip at best.

We have three stud RB's with two fast QB's yet we just gave WMU 14 points off INT's. I truly believe we win that game keeping it on the ground with Ellison playing the entire game.

I get wanting to have a more dynamic offense but start that crap next year with a QB that was recruited for it. These are option QB's with very limited passing skills. Pass plays need to be very simplistic and easy decisions. Snap, throw and or not open throw it away or run immediately.

On D the DB youth has shown up quite a bit. Hard to pin it just on him but a DB not looking back is one of the biggest things that drives me crazy. I don't get it at all, if you don't look at the ball you are going to get flagged at minimum and likely not going to stop the catch.

That is just my opinion and everybody has there own but bottom line we should be as good if not much better than last year and we just are not by any stretch of the imagination. They have one foot in the option and one foot in whatever you want to call their offense they are trying to implement and it is not working. We are just out athleting the teams we are beating the good teams with equal or better talent are going to kick our asses IMO.

RE: Georgia Southern at Arkansas State discussion.
thanks for the input, I cant comment on his game day coaching, since I haven't seen a GS game yet, but, the timeout at the end of the WMU game, and especially calling out the fanbase shows a lack of coaching maturity. I know he thinks he should defend his players, and he should on certain things, but on this matter he is starting a battle he cant win. Every fan base in America from Alabama to Savanna State have the right to call out a player or coach if they don't produce the way the fanbase expects, its not a question of whether they should or not, its just a fact of life its going to happen, why start something you cant win.

Without looking at it, I'm going to guess this is the playoff game against SC State, where we were trying to run down the clock to end the game as the game was decided.

Incorrect, it was the Georgia State Fake Field Goal game.

But don't worry, we've got some nice parting gifts for you. Thanks for playing, "What was that video!"
