LSU may very well be the job this cycle. If it stays that way my money is on them getting whomever they wish with only maybe one or two limitations.

Got to admit I am not sure what the allure would be for Fisher. He can, and has, won national titles where he's at. He might be able to do that in LSU, but he's basically inviting himself into a more difficult conference. He'd need a lot of $$$$ to make that worthwhile

Any coach who already has a situation as good as Jimbo at FSU should pass on LSU.
Any coach hired by LSU has to win at least a couple of SEC titles and make the playoff at least once in five years or he'll get canned. But, Saban is only 64 and shows no signs of aiming for early retirement.
LSU will be a better job 4-6 years from now after their next coach gets fired.

Not really. A big enough name with strong established Southeastern or Southwestern recruiting ties will be able to step in and do just fine provided they know how to develop the talent they recruit. Both Fisher and Herman can do that. Every school likes to hold onto good coaches. But, not every schools pays a head coach more than 5 million a year. As fans we forget that these coaches didn't matriculate in most cases from our schools, or even from a school in our conference. This is true of both of these candidates with relationship both to the school and conference they presently represent and to L.S.U.. If one of them moves it will be because L.S.U. is a step up in pay, or in the case of Herman a step up in prestige as well.
It is a nasty business, and a mercenary one. I advise that you do not attach to much meaning to what does or doesn't happen. When Bear was at Alabama he was at his Alma Mater. When Shug was at Auburn he was at his Alma Mater. Those good old days when the loyal sons came home to defend Momma are long gone. When's the last time Notre Dame had a Rockne loving his home? They were great days for a more loyal time. Almost all of these guys are hired guns. If they leave it's not a put down for F.S.U. or Houston. For them it's just business. And they really don't care what happened to the last guy.

Fisher makes more than Les Miles and is only behind Meyer, Harbaugh, Saban, and Stoops in pay. I don't think LSU could match FSU in pay. Besides the good situation he is in here, as already documented, he's also got ties with both of his children going to school here and one of his sons playing high school football here. I expect there'll be renegotiations but I don't see him leaving with the 5th highest paid coaching salary in the country and an 8yr contact.

I really don't see Jimbo leaving FSU, he's already at one of the premier programs in the country.
Herman on the other hand, I could definitely see leaving Houston to go and coach at LSU. Houston's only real hope of keeping him is if Houston gets offered a spot in the BIGXII. If that were to happen I believe he would at least consider staying. Other than that scenario, I believe it's almost a lock that coach Herman will be at LSU in 2017

Isn't Herman a Southern Cal guy? USC is 1-3 and may be in the market after this season too......

A much better job! If he thinks USC is a realistic possibility...

Most of his coaching gigs have in and around Big 12 territory, Ohio State being the exception. He grew up in Simi Valley and then went to Cal Lutheran.

Tom Herman is much more likely than Jimbo.

You must be insane. California is arguably the best recruiting ground in the country and USC has more national championships than just about everyone except Alabama and ND.
You guys have three, not even in the same league.

I agree with a lot of this that it isn't a good time and that Jimbo is unlikely to be swayed for a whole host of reasons.
But, LSU can afford him.

Don't get offended. I just meant that the SEC is a harder conference than the PAC. My post was about current football. As far as recruiting goes, since it was brought up, going back to 2012 (which would be the oldest recruiting year for current players) LSU had a better class than USC in 2012, 2013, 2014, & 2016.

LA vs. Baton Rouge. If the pay is equal, unless your are from the deep south or have LSU connections, most people would take the USC job. Easier to win, nicer area (although USC isn't in the greatest neighborhood), better schools for the family, and probably more national exposure if you win big. USC is one of the blue bloods of college football. LSU is in the next tier.

I'm not offended lol, I was just pointing out that you need to remove the homer shades. Even if the SEC is a better conference that has no relevance in your statement. The SEC may be a tougher conference but every power conference is tough.
And dude, you guys had a better class those years because with have been on sanctions if you haven't been under rock. And your statement still is not true.
Per rivals
2012-USC
2013-LSU (We only signed 12 players and LSU signed 26)
2014-LSU (We signed 20 and LSU signed 25)
2015-USC We signed the first full class in years and were ranked as having the top recruiting class in the country.
2016-LSU (Again because you guys signed more players than us)
I'm also one of the few Bama fans who has actually attended the school. And watch SEC football and can with a straight face tell you LSU is not a top 5 program like UA, ND, USC, Ohio State, and OU.
