They wouldn't look near as good had those refs not botched that OkState game away. CMU should be sitting at 2-1 right now.

The refs did what the rule should logically do... Not let a team purpously do an offensive penalty to end the game. And Ok State didn't even do that on purpose... The coach thought the rule was how it ended up granting CMU one play. It wasn't until after the fact that he found out the refs had mis read the rule... And actually the rule books explanation did not account for a play like that... Blame it on the refs. Everyone gets screwed. Because it happened to a P5 everyone knows about it.

CMU had one of the greatest plays ever at the end of that game... If it shouldn't have happened so be it. CMU still was within points of Oklahoma State which won an inpressive game last week. 2-1 CMU or 3-0 CMU is still the same team and should be ranked where they are IMO. They'll beat Virginia this week and be 4-0 heading into a matchup with proven WMU to see who is better.

Can someone please explain to me how NDSU is getting votes to be in the top 25 when they are in a different division?

Because the AP Poll encompasses all of division 1.

Cause they are NDSU. On the cusp of winning 6 FCS titles in a row and probably beat more P5 schools since 2010 years than any G5 (Since 2010: 5 P5 wins, and 1 G5 win).

Look what P5 conferences they play - BIG 10 conference bottom feeders. Iowa has been an exception the past year or two, but the bottom line is, they have a smart AD who schedules opponents he knows they have a chance against. They aren't playing SEC or ACC teams like most G5 teams. There's a reason for that. Think about it

I'm fully aware of that.. I'm simply outlining the narrative that is used by the sports media.

Also, several FCS schools have received votes in the Top 25 poll. App, GS, NDSU, and others. It's not unheard of and they are still technically Div I.

7 AAC teams have more than that.

Gotta remember they beat Iowa ....last week....and voters are real "what have you done lately" in their approach.

That's like comparing cats to dogs. It's not the same.

Only because you've had more opportunity. They've won 100% of the P5/G5 games that they've played in that time.

Likely because SEC nor ACC teams are dumb enough to put them on their schedule. And if they could beat Iowa, they could easily beat Kentucky, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Miss State, Duke, GT, Virginia, NC State, Syracuse, Virginia, Boston College and Wake Forest. Those teams up there play them because of their proximity.

I called NDSU beating Iowa....

(08-19-2016 09:18 AM)EigenEagle Wrote:  "0.500 or worse like usual"? Go do your homework on Paul Johnson's seasons at Tech since 2008. There's no "like usual" there.

WKU better than GT and WMU and UC without Brandon Doughty? I'll believe that one when I see it.

Iowa's season will be over after they lose to the Byzin, BTW.

It's not because I think NDSU is amazing but because (1) Iowa is overrated and (2) Iowa's style of offense plays right into the hands of NDSU, who IMO might play defense relative to their talent better than anyone in the country, FBS or FCS.

NDSU BTW is (I think) the fourth FCS team to beat a ranked FBS team behind App beating Michigan, JMU beating Va Tech, and I think Eastern Washington beating a ranked Oregon State. App was the only of those teams that won the national championship.

And yes, if I could've chosen to play Iowa instead of Ole Miss this year I'd take Iowa all day long. SEC>B1G in general.

It's actually because of App State. The AP changed the way they can vote for teams after App beat Michigan in 2007.
