Anyone in the know how game times are decided for ESPN3 games?
Also if a game is scheduled on ASN and ESPN3 which company gets to decide the game time?
GA St. @ App is a noon kickoff, aka attendance killer for conference games not named GS.
Wouldn't Tulane @ Umass at noon make more sense as no one is going to show up to that game regardless of the time.

I think host schools get to set kickoff times for ESPN3-only games.

With the Cajun game against Boise, we had the choice of 11am or 2:30pm. The last 2:30pm game we did at this time of the year we had about 20 players requiring intravaneous IV's and numerous folks in the stands needing assistance. It was 130+ degrees on the field. I think it was ASN who was the determining factor to the choice of times.

I think ESPN3 only -- host school sets the time.
ASN/ESPN3 -- ASN sets the time (if time changes by host, no tv, just ESPN3).

This is correct ... ESPN3 is by the school / anything else is by ASN or ESPN.

RE: TV ?
ESPN just picked up next week's USA home game against San Diego State for ESPN News. As such, they set the time for 7:00 PM.

Keep in mind that ASN games are regional in nature. There could be several games carried by ASN at the same time but shown regionally. For example, our game this week with Akron is an ASN game but not the game carried where I live.

Remember that day when ESPN asked App to move a game to Friday ?
Yeah.
ESPN remembers.
If we (Sun Belt) let ASN control any aspect of kickoff times, that coverage should be abolished. Should be an institutional decision if not governed by the agreement with ESPN, imo.
(That would be my working theory)

ASN isn't paying us money, ergo they get no say over the kickoff time.

Hey happapp, I noticed we were neighbors. I actually live in Boones Mill. I've noticed ASN around here will usually pick up two games for the same time slot. One will be on CSN Mid Atlantic or MASN and the other on WSET-2. I checked the schedule and it looks like they haven't selected any games for that time slot which is strange but they'll have to pick atleast one because the WSET-2 is 24 hours. I"ve sent e-mails to the station and they're fairly responsive. Hopefully you can see the game, good luck.

The ASN Channel out of Asheville isn't even showing the App/Akron game. What a joke.

Thing is, ESPN let App keep that on Saturday because it was Miami, and the Hurricane wanted Saturday as well.
When they came to Arkansas State about moving the Toledo game, we said no as well. ESPN came back and said too bad, the SBC TV contract gives ESPN the right to force a school to move a game to a different day, so it was moved.

So App chose a 12 Noon start? More likely ASN said umm we have a 12 noon TV slot available take it or leave it...

If you look at WMYA TV 40 (ASN) in Greenville, they have the following listed:
Apprentice School at Brevard
LIVE
Sat 9/244:00pm-7:00pm40.1 WMYADT
I can't even make stuff like this up.

Thing is, ESPN wanted it moved to Friday but App wanted Saturday and Miami wanted $$$ to play it on Friday, or so I've heard.
The way it all 'worked' out kind of screwed us (Georgia Southern) in the end. We would have preferred to have Louisiana on that Saturday since it was to be our homecoming weekend. Instead, it will be our homecoming Thursday night game.
ESPN got 3 games and filled their inventory, despite my best understanding that the Sun Belt was only obligated for 1 game. Are you suggesting or outright saying that ESPN had more inventory owed to it from the Sun Belt ? A Thursday, Friday AND Saturday game ?
I don't know, but that's my theory. Timing of events apparently didn't allow us to move our game back to Saturday, for whatever reason.
I'm 100% sure of one thing, we'll probably have 6000 fewer fans at the Thursday Louisiana game than we would have had we played that game on the Saturday. Probably would have broke our 'new' attendance record too.
