Should be a big crowd. Home opener, top ten opponent, nationally televised.

Seems strange your home opener isn't until week 4 though. I'm sure TxSt fans will be itching to finally get to go to a game.

A sellout is expected. It's not there yet but both the Texas Tech and Navy games didn't sellout until the week of the game. If we beat Arkansas it will sellout by Monday. Lose to Arkansas and it won't sellout until Thursday or Friday.

This is only our second time to host a top 25 team. LA Tech was around 23 when we hosted them in 2012. Getting Houston as a top 10 is huge and depending how this week goes they may be a top 5 team.

If you can't sell this game out, you have no shot.

When we struck the deal they were anything but top 10 and we were FCS transitional. Then we beat them in 2012 which started the cascade of coaching changes at UH. Now a bunch of their staff are former TXST coaches and they've been on the rise. We, on the other hand, are right back where we were in 2011; all new staff, a ton of new players and no idea what we have.

You could argue that they beat down they handed us last year started some of the changes we have now. I just hope they work out for us as well as they worked out for them. The difference was that the UH AD made the changes and spent the money to get things done right. Our AD is a loser and would have made no changes if Fran hadn't resigned on his own.

I wanna say that La Tech was #18 when we hosted them. One of the most entertaining games I've ever seen but we might have had 13k there. We were in the midst of a 4-12 season though.

I did a quick ticket count on the TXST website. It looks like there are around 4,000 tickets left for the game.

That's awesome! Man, so long until the first home game for TXST. Good luck, hope you win. This is something that's good for the conference as a whole.

This game was announced as part of a home-and-home deal in 2013, a full 12 months after the 2012 game, and not while we were FCS transitional.

I thought this was a 2/1. That was TTU, wasn't it? Dang brain.
Got it all messed up as we were FBS transitional in 2012 and full FBS in 2013. 03-banghead
Regardless, they weren't that good in 2012 until after we played them and their dominoes had started to fall - resulting in the rest of my statement. Some days it doesn't pay to get out of bed.
