22 member search committee. For those of you that have been involved in similar searches do they usually have that many people involved? Seems like a lot.

Seems way too large of a group. Consensus will be difficult.

Would like to see the diversity and sustainability folks weeded-out, not only from this committee, but the university as a whole.

WMU has taken a turn too far to the left on these issues, to the point where student orientation leaders are told to avoid calling people "Sir" or M'am" because it may insult a person's gender preference - no kidding. 01-wingedeagle

MSU, CMU and UM are no better, or even worse. Time to break-away from the pack, avoid PC BS, and return to top-tier instruction.

Here is a link to an thought provoking, and provocative, column along these lines:

Way too many, but a lot of constituencies to appease.

Dr. Deshpande is on the committee. There's one good perspective.

I'm nervous we'll get a president who will want to greatly cut athletics.

As chair of the committee and member of BOT, Johnston won't let that happen.

Certainly not Football.

We stand on the brink of greatness. We need a great hire at this point, not just average, but highly skilled, someone who can consolidate our progress and then take another strong step forward.

This is a crucial hire.

For those who know any chance Kieth Pretty is a candidate? He is at Northwood University. Former Bronco Footballer seems to have the credentials but not sure if he has a PhD. Seems to me he would be a natural but not even sure if he has an interest in the job.

Keith is mid-60s, got to be getting close to retiring.

Unless he wants short-term gig to pad his pension, not likely.

RE: The search for a new Pres begins...
Very good guy and a WMU man, but his slot would have been the one filled by Judy Bailey, it didn't happen and now the time is not right.

Need someone who has experience operating on a pretty big stage, old enough to know what to do and young enough to still get the job done.

The right person could really make their mark at this time and place. We are on the brink of greatness here.

Yes, she was hot in the '70s-Disco era way.

I was on the young side of my teenage years then, THAT LOOK was golden!

LOL. Actually, I was appointed to the bench by Gov. Granholm. I met her a couple times, and she looked quite good in person. I think I was the "least liberal" judge she ever appointed. "Hot" chicks are good in my book.

ACTUALLY...this one time...she made a guest appearance on a Tigers' telecast. She was wearing a home white uniform and started unbuttoning it...pretty hot.

How about Michelle Obama?
