South Alabama is not better than Toledo or WKU. Yes they beat an SEC team by one point but it's probably the worst SEC team of the year. Much like when we beat UF, yeah we beat an SEC team but it's not that huge of an accomplishment.

You have to keep in mind that they will need to jump two Power 5 conference champions in order to do it. It's not impossible, but I think they will get in if it is clear they were one of the top 4 teams. At one time people thought there was no way that two teams from the same conference would play for the national championship game, but it happened in 2011 because Alabama and LSU proved to be the best teams in the country.

What I'd like to know is...if Houston does go to the CFP, how does the Access Bowl selection work?

If Houston goes to the playoffs, I think that is a G5 accessing the top tier, so there won't be another G5 team playing in a NY6 Bowl game.

I don't think that's how it works. The Access bowl is already chosen to be the Cotton bowl this year and the two semifinal bowls are the Peach Bowl and the Fiesta Bowl. Meaning if Houston was in the semifinals they would be in one of the semifinal bowls leaving the access bowl spots to the next highest G5 right?

Nope.

Why am I not surprised.....wth.

I don't know if this is true. I think any "first" SBC win over an SEC team is an accomplishment. If it wasn't we would be doing it all of the time. In our case we all knew Florida was down but it seemed like we were too thus it was a good win. We don't yet know how well MSU will do...maybe they will pull it together and still make a bowl maybe they wont but in any case kudos to USA for earning the W!

Making definitive statements after one game is a little crazy either way.

Incredible win for South Alabama. And even if MSST were to finish the season under .500 it's still a great win.

Yep and part of that under .500 is due to South Alabama. 04-cheers
