Was it really that bad of a week?
We got two FBS non-conference wins this week. That's as many as we got all of last year by teams not named Georgia Southern and App State.
Arkansas State and ULL are obviously letdowns, but the holes they leave can possibly be filled and then some with South Alabama, Texas State, and Troy.

Sun Belt did well enough to overcome some of us truly sucking and gain positive press.

I've gotta say it was an all around neutral first week-as great as south al's win was along with Texas state's impressive win (and add the others that were expected to win)
Lala's and astate's crushing defeats at home along with app's close call, it just really made it to where the needle pretty much didn't move one way or another
With that said next week we have some VERY intriguing games that I think could really make some noise (not to mention a South Al vs Southern game that has just intensified by a whole bunch)

RE: Was it really that bad of a week?
If we had gotten one more win, it would have been a great week. It looks bad because we had a couple really horrible results from our perspective that probably don't look as horrible from the National perspective.
As it is, because there were a couple huge plays in the Texas State and USA games that got National attention (Throwback pass, and the USA QB hurdling the defender) the SBC got noticed. Throw in App nearly beating Tennessee Thursday, and the National perspective suddenly becomes we had a decent weekend.
And again, I'll bring up that one of the more important things that happened was two of the teams picked near of the bottom of the league pulled off the surprise wins. That helps the perception significantly as well.

We won the number of games I expected, just two of them were different they most would have thought.

I didn't really expect us to beat Boise. But I did expect it to be slightly more competitive. They could have scored 100. It was a clinic on execution. It was impressive.

The high points of the week did eventually outweigh the low points, especially from the perspective of folks who didn't pay much attention to the low points anyway.

The lows were al lousy as they could have been.
The highs, particularly USA, were pretty good. TX State win was quite solid.
I'd say it was a good weekend.

Are you all going to be as bad as last season when you played without Knighten? It seems that the posters here completely underestimated how much he meant to your offense.

Also, I think the SEC, if not for Alabamas win over FCS Southern Cal, would be in full meltdown.

I don't see how UL is a let down other than Cajun fans no one here expect us to do anything in the conference so what makes you think we were going to beat or hang around with a top five G5 program. But it is what it is. On top of that some idiot at our school scheduled the game for 1100 in south Louisiana heat. Our ambulance service stayed busy the whole game.

Depends.
Buster might remember our backs are pretty good at some point.

Karl Benson and ESPN/ASN dictated the game time. Our piss'ant AD didn't stand up for the safety of the players or fans.

Mohajir said he refused the offer to play on Friday Night but eventually ESPN moved it anyway because it is in the TV contract that they can if they want to.

Compare to week 1 last year:
2015 2016 SBC VS:
0-7 1-1 P5
0-1 1-2 MAC
0-1 0-1 CUSA
0-0 0-1 MWC
0-0 0-0 AAC
2-0 4-0 FCS

The contract allowed ESPN to dictate the game time. It is a BIG stretch to blame your AD. You Cajuns are quick to criticize other teams that play at 11 and whose attendance suffers because of the heat. But, in ULLs case, it is the ADs fault. Boise players and fans were in the same heat and it didn't seem to bother them.

Perhaps the wisest words ever spoken:
ChiefsFan
"So to Summarize:
Stogdog is doing what stogdog usually does? Fail to understand why we hate Tech, and then after listening to why, tells us why we actually hate Tech and why that particular opinion is wrong.
I mean, I just wanted to be clear here."

Was it really that bad of a week? From my seat in Centennial Bank stadium in Jonesboro it was pretty damned depressing. But our conference mates took some of the sting out of it. Congrats to App on the almost win with a top ranked SEC opponent, South Alabama on their win and Texas State for giving us all heart palpitations.
