Way to go APP. Great game for your program. Some nice things said about Scott, the program and fan base this morning on Sirius College football show.
its staying close like last night and doing it on a regular basis that produces a narrative about your program. A narrative that gives others confidence when its time to pick schools to move up in conference play.
Looks like the Belt is yours for the taking.

I know moral victories can suck but you all embarrassed what they say is #9 in FBS...nicely done!
Time to retire him. He was atrocious. Give me a clean glass, a bucket of ice, a nice bourbon and by the fourth quarter I'll still do a better job than he did.

Had our chances to win and didn't. No moral victories here.
That was a textbook form tackle that stopped the QB cold! Very unfortunate how the ball bounced where the defender couldn't corral that ball...missed XP loomed large as well...proud of the effort, disappointed in the outcome.

I'll just leave this here, from the NCAA no less.
The Volunteers used a balanced offensive attack to claim victory over their FCS opponent nine years to the day the Mountaineers knocked off No. 5 Michigan in one of the biggest upsets in college football history.

Why thanks! I guess we could share the spotlight, with our return to the top, with some of our Sun Belt brethren...that would be good for the conference!

I did see that and was very impressed with it. Not sure what he said but just the fact that he took time to go over there and give praise was enough for me, much respect on that. Butch probably poured him a stiff drink after this game but that was a great thing to see.
Mixed feelings on that. Nice to do but, as others have said, maybe not the time and maybe unintentionally insulting.
Now, if he went over and congratulated them after LOSING a close one to them, then I'd be really impressed.

It was funny. App had a good contingent there, maybe 5k? It was impressive

Wow...what a game App! We know how that feels to lose a heartbreaker like that. Y'all played an excellent game, really enjoyed watching it. The gf and I were cheering for y'all the whole time (yea I said it). Hate the loss, but again, excellent game!

Are you expecting a rule change?
I wouldn't be surprised. Under current rules, for example, if the ball had bounced forward and out of bounds instead of into the endzone, it would have been returned to the spot where the fumble occurred rather than where it went out of bounds. If you let a team benefit from a fumble, what's to keep them from fumbling on purpose if they see a teammate standing in the endzone?

Yeah, that's not what stings the worst, by a long shot, but I'm ready for App to be known for more than the Michigan win. At least the next time (in two weeks) we are taking it to a P5, they'll bring up this one, in addition to the Michigan game.

It was relatively close and Appalachian travels well. I knew a half dozen people that went to the game, some live in Raleigh, some in Chattanooga.

I'll pile on with another hats off to the mountain men. This stAte fan was pulling for you as well. Beating them would have been a feather in the cap of SBC perception. So close.
RE: GAMEDAY THREAD: App State at Tennessee 7:30pm et SEC Network
The quickest way to elevate the conference is to create fan interest in and out of conference. A game like this does both. App may have genned up a little more interest when they come to your home town with fans salivating over the opportunity. The perception gives to us all throughout the season. Nice work CrAppy! GS needed a little jazzing to get up for our game. Much positive in the Sun Belt unless your Wolfbird and think you have a better path to success for A state.

The best part about the Miami game is that it will be on ESPN at noon, necessitating fact checks including knowing players names. The coverage last night wasn't bad but the post-game coverage of this game hasn't been about App being the favorite for the Sun Belt or the relative success compared to other FBS move-ups; it has been about how Tennessee is still the Tennessee everyone has come to know.
I honestly believe I sense some of that same sentiment here but ultimately what App showed last night was that they are well coached and have developed quality depth to the extent that when the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year goes down his back-up comes in and stuffs the run at the LOS. Duck and Vic Johnson both played well beyond their freshman labels and it can't all be attributed to how Tennessee executed.

You'll have your shot against Ole Miss and Georgia Tech. Arkansas State fan logic seems to be that they hope for a close loss so the new conference members don't look like they may actually be surpassing an established FBS program, despite App and Southern coming in with a collective 9 National Championships.

How about not generalizing an entire fanbase, based on a half dozen fans?
Appreciate it.
