After the AAC makes selections there will be some who will be done. Airport meeting will ensue

If the Big 12 pulls who is being banded about, and USF and UCF stay in AAC would there be an interest in FAU and FIU I wonder? I've enjoyed FAU's series with both UCF and USF and I think all 4 schools would benefit from having closer road trips with each other.
Not pimping at all, if FAU and FIU stay in CUSA I will be fine. I enjoy the conference. I just always want to have closer road trip games and having all of us in a conference together would be great for that.
FWIW I hate all this crap, I was really hoping realignment would be done for about a decade, but once again the P5 feels the need to stir up.
Locking down Florida? And you don't have UF, FSU or Miami? You call that "locking down Florida"? PLEASE..........

Obviously my point was from a G5 point of view. We all know that UF, FSU and Miami are going to get the cream of the crop for the forseable future. Still this state produces enough talent that even after the big boys get all they want, there is enough to go around. So yes having all 4 Florida G5 schools would be locking it down.

South Florida TV Markets, Another "Free" recruiting trip to Florida each year, in FAU a program with a bowl game hosted in its stadium, built in rivalry, easy travel for 4 schools thus helping budgets.
Does the AAC NEED FAU and FIU? No. Are there benefits to having the most FBS schools in arguably the best producer of talent in the country? Yes.
Just a discussion point and Im glad to see grownup discussion about it.
All very valid points and the biggest benefit is from a fans perspective. Temple already recruits Florida fairly well with 10 players on the roster and being in the east is guaranteed a trip each season. Personally I see 4 schools within a 250 mile radius redundant but that’s just me. Ide rather see the spot used to add a new market.

Fiu is just a terrible experience. There are more people at local high school games. I'm not even sure they have a radio broadcast. FAU I could stomach a slight bit more. Ucf has been around for a whole taking our lumps. To become an equal isn't going to be something I would favor.
In 20 years, ask again when you have a long list of crowds over 40k.

Just spent a week in Deerfield Beach. Saw a billboard that said experience college online for FIU.

Just like there is no way USF or UCF get into an ACC with UM and FSU

The depressing reality is that there are only marginally decent back fill candidates in football and abysmal candidates for basketball.

This. The ACC could also "lock down" Florida by adding USF and UCF. Think that will ever happen?

Similar examples of this idea would be like replacing Cincinnati and UConn with Texas state and UTSA, or with App State and Charlotte, or ULM and ULaLa. There's just no sense to it
We're already competing on the recruiting trail. USF just flipped a kid from us that we flipped from Syracuse. All these kids know each other anyway from the 7 vs 7 camps and high school championships. It is probably over kill, TBH to have 4 programs in Florida, but there are certainly some benefits to each other and to conference mates.
For players...no doubt they would love it. Heck, last year's FAU/UF OT Game...lots of players on the field knew each other...even if that game was never seen as a rivalry game nor was expected to be a close one (FAU actually should have won it more than once), players had to love playing against some of their HS rivals and/or even some of their former HS teammates.
Out of FAU or FIU...still think FAU has the "chance" to be more popular (fan support wise/attendance wise)...as even though FIU is the much bigger school...FAU up in Boca...away from Miami...and the one with a much better stadium and with more dorms coming in...FAU has the "chance" to become a supported program in the future...but both FAU and FIU have a long way to do.
And yes, as a fan, anytime you have easy driveable road games (Orlando to Tampa, Orlando to Boca, Orlando to Miami), be it conf or non-conf games...those are hard to beat. (Let alone play road games in cities with lots of UCF Alumni).

USF and UCF would vote no way on that. FIU is the worst Gameday experience I've ever seen. But I have no problem playing them OOC.

You're not kidding. I'm still debating on going to FIU this year, but it feels so small time it is amazing. I'm not sure why they bother with d-1 when only a few hundred people show up. I've never seen a halftime concession stand with no line. You will find that at FIU. I stayed in Fort Lauderdale Beach and the UF/Miami game was playing on the same day. I literally got laughs from people when i mentioned i was going to watch a FIU game. It is going to be an uphill battle for them.
Ucf and Usf would have to be going to the big 12 for there to be a chance. Other AAC members would need to say the possibility.

I am going, have some FIU people who invite us to come down. Of the two schools I like FIU better in terms of location but they really need to invest in football facilities. Their fan base is more fair weather than most Florida fans but size of alumni base has potential.
Kyle Hightower bitched nonstop about FIU pressbox have they improved that since then.
Hopefully UCF wins and we can take over their stadium again but sad that we have had to buy season tickets in past.
For those who are going to game, buy at about game time from scalpers you can get for 5 dollars then seat where ever you please.
