F conference realignment.

Ya its no fair teams can't play themselves. UH would be undefeated/winless every year otherwise!

Sigh... Wake Forest, Syracuse, Pitt, NC State, etc get to have a big game on their schedule when Clemson comes to town. They know it will be a sell out and great atmosphere except Clemson doesn't get that they only get Florida State. Same for Alabama but good thing about the SEC there still is LSU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, and Auburn coming to town.

Re: Coogs surpass 20K season tickets
Clemson is just a bad example. Clemson and FSU are SEC calibre. Its goofy they are in the ACC. Gatech is very close. None of those schools feel ACC if you go to a game.

Hard core southern football fans think of the ACC as G5 regardless of ESPNs agenda, excluding fsu, clemson and gatech

Let me give you an example. Auburn sells out every game. Demand is that great for tickets. Big games sell out with big money folks. Small games sell out with fans that couldnt get big money big game tickets. Many big game folks wont go to a utmartin or ball state. Its almost like they have a secondary or backup market. Clemson and FSU are those kinda schools. No other schools in the ACC have that kinda support.

Fellow Memphis fans, anyone know what our season ticket sales look like this year, or what they were last year?

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like the school tends to keep that figure closely held.

This is so true. I was vacationing in Tenn. during Sec days a few years ago, and two announcers were querying about a recruits decision to select another conference over the sEC. They both surmised that the recruit wanted more playing time and did not want to compete with the best. This is the only possible answer. I do not know how you stand it. I would go straight pro football if I lived down south.

That is a fair point but I would like to point out our attendance has seen an overall 31.33% increase in the last 10 years (2006-2015) versus the previous 10 (1996-2005).

The average bump (1996 vs. 2006 for example) over the season 10 years previous was 28.87%.

This includes such stellar seasons as 3-8, 3-8, 3-8, 0-11, 5-7, 3-8, 5-7. and 5-7.....

We made (and continue to) make the necessary changes. I would think the floor for us is similar to 2014. Yes we went 8-5 but you would think we went 1-11.... the way we all felt and we still averaged 28k. Even if you discount our opening game that year (1st in the new stadium) we still averaged 26k.

All that is a long way to say our floor is now 26-28k and we will only continue to raise that bar. Games have become much more than just the game with the tailgating and overall atmosphere outside the stadium. It is and continues to become a place to be and not just when we are good though that helps....

Give us another year or two of our established growth and you will see that floor land at 30k. Times have changed on Cullen Blvd. We aren't the UH that was left out of the SWC.

Just wish we had this level of commitment 20 years ago and didn't wait 10 years to make the changes necessary.

Well at least it is happening at a critical time with all the expansion talk.

And why for selfish reasons I hope the PAC moves on Houston first before the Big12... Hehe

I would definitely take the pac over the big 12.

PAC 12 is CFB equivalent to being in a witness protection program

You're right. All I found was this article that says 2015 season tickets were 4,000 ahead of 2014.

The wife (Class of 2006, by the way) and I got ours back in April. We're in section 332. I only wish the Oklahoma game was at 2:30pm instead of 11am. Oh, well. We're definitely gonna be there.

for football, sure

But the mindset of the people here is that Arkansas would win the B1G, B12, and PAC every year along with every other SEC team not named Vandy and Miss St.

I think that stems from the fact that southern athletes are generally better

Congrats UH. I hope that Temple will be following closely behind. It's impressive when schools that have to compete with theNFL in their markets are able to have that kind of success.

Well in some cases I think an NFL market can help the local university. For example when JJ Watt went to the coogs game it brought alot of attention to our school which was good.
