About the naming. It's Coastal Carolina, but that's too wordy for casual conversation. We all say Coastal, unless talking to someone who is unfamiliar with the school, or it's a formal setting. Oh, no. Honestly, no one really cares about that. It's just easier to say. The only real preference most of us have is using CCU as the official abbreviation. I've seen some media outlets use CCar and other crap. But Coastal Carolina is just fine for the thread title.

What I hope we can change is the CCar or Coastal Caro. (like on the NCAA CWS bracket). Is it too hard to use Coastal Carolina or CCU?

Haha... just a friendly jab - but not aimed at any school specifically. Seems like many of the SBC schools (and others) are very particular about their branding and their fans take exception to how they are referred to on message boards.

Nice article in the Stars &Stripes a few days ago about Coastal. CCU baseball has been very good for a very long time, and I'm happy for them. Hopefully AFN will show the games at an agreeable time

It's not too late to rescind the invitation to Coastal Carolina and find a large media market team to replace them with.

no one ever doubted your baseball program, its all the other programs we have some serious reservations. As far as this baseball team, I have watched almost every pitch of the CWS, and there is no doubt CCU was the most complete, fundamentally sound team in Ohama, its a great story that your coach of 20 plus years has stayed to build the program, especially since he has turned down HC jobs at bigger Universities.

I lived in Myrtle Beach for 2 years and always spend a lot of time there.

Amazing to watch this school grow, and blossom.

I'm not a big baseball fan, but I have been following you guys this whole CWS. I have a lot of friends who graduated from Coastal and we keep in touch. Coastal was my favorite FCS team, not sure what I'm going to do now that you guys have thrown a wrench into everything by moving up lol.

No, actually there were people that even questioned the legitimacy of our baseball program.

I never did, I knew that your baseball program would strengthen the SBC, just don't have the same confidence in your other programs, especially football, since that's the one that "drives the bus" for the conference. But hey, you guys just keep going to the CWS almost every year and we will be happy.

Keep doubting the other sports. You'll see. It won't be immediate. But our trajectory as a school both academically and athletically is about as close to vertical as you could possibly get.

There were some people on Panther Talk and Ragin Pagin who didn't seem Happy about Coastal's invite.

Quick question for Coastal fans, are there any recruiting rules that will cahnge once you guys go to FBS? Are there the same stipulations on athletes playing at Coastal as there on the rest of the FBS schools?

well, that's the beauty of it, you guys will get the chance to prove us all wrong, or reinforce our doubts. Whats kinda unfair to you guys, is we cant afford you to pull a UNCC and give you 4 or 5 years before you become respectable, you see how that's working out for CUSA, their going nuts because UNCC, ODU,aren't getting it done quick enough, or teams like FAU, FIU, who have been around for awhile, but cant seem to build any consistently or momentum. These are the schools that are getting a lot of the blame for the new tv contract.
