I remember when we beat Ga Tech, the refs calling a TD back because we didn't allow Tech defense to get set. They had plenty of time.

After many of our long gains on offense a flag would suddenly appear.

But we beat the dogsh*t out of 'em so it didn't matter.

You should watch our game against Clemson

Out of that group, only Boise State and East Carolina have routinely beaten P5's year in year out and that's without a true recruiting pipeline.

Those 2 are the only ones that can compete right away.

Triple overtime vs VT at VT 3 years ago tells me we can compete with VT. Also beat Maryland in a bowl in their backyard. If these teams were coming to our stadiums half the time and we had their money, we compete right away. Not saying we're gonna beat Alabama our first year in, but we could certainly put together a decent season in the ACC. And we'd have the benefit of grabbing 3-4 easy wins OOC and letting the conference schedule give us respect instead of the other way around and getting no respect. Not to mention 8-9 teams go bowling so you only have to win 2-3 conference games and you're a lock for a bowl. Wake Forest can't even do that much and Vandy about every other year. They're just godawful. They certainly don't do enough for a 4000% higher payout.

If I counted right, we are 4-11 since 2009 against P5.

Wins: Illinois twice, Ole Miss, and Virginia.

Losses to LSU, Auburn (twice), Oklahoma, MissState (twice), NC State, Kansas, Kansas State, Texas A&M (twice).

We beat ourselves against Nebraska last season. Waited until late to open up the offense. We dominated the game in the second half, but ran out of time.

BYU imho easily meets or exceeds Boise and ECU in that department, though I question why BYU is even on that list since it's not a G5 school.

I think the word was compete immediately. You base that on current performance.

In 3 seasons they've played 8 P5's and are 5-3 against them. Should have been 6-2.

2 seasons ago, Houston lost to an upstart CUSA team very badly. Quite embarrassing.

Houston got an uptick in recruiting thanks in part to a brand new stadium. Prior to that, they had a 2015 recruiting class that was good for 92nd place among FBS schools. In 2014, ODU had a better rated recruiting class than Houston per 24/7 sports.

I'm not saying Houston isn't a prime candidate for a Big12 invite, I'm just saying they won't compete immediately if ever.

I'm sure they'll try to milk their successful 1 season as much as they can, but the new stadium smell will wear off soon enough.

Should of could of don't win you games...if we are counting should have...

Western beat Indiana last year and Ill the year before that would make Western 5-3 vs SEC & BIG10 instead of 3-5 in the last 4 years.

But I don't have time for word play...going fishing. Or at least we are leaving today for a 10 day fishing trip to the Gulf and Atlantic ...Ft Myers/Ft Lauderdale

Boise definitely. Boise has consistently beaten high ranked P5 teams in big games Oklahoma BCS bowL

NC State and UNC football are no powerhouses football hardly ever ranked and never mentioned in former BCS discussions. Virginia Tech has had some glory years but have fell on hard times also same with South Carolina. I would compare ECU success against P5 with Tech, not anything to discount but nowhere even in the same realm as Boise.
