How much do you give back to your school?
Including season tickets for whatever sports, club donations, athletic donations, etc. ANYTHING where money leaves your hand and goes to the school.
Just curious where most donors fall.

I'm a lifetime member of the alumni association and donate equal amounts to the Hilltopper Athletic Foundation and academics every year. I also buy season tickets for both men's bball and football.

Nice offseason d*** measuring thread here. August can't get here fast enough.

Anyway, I'm a member of the alumni association, but I get the recent grad discount because I have a bunch of loans and a family to raise. I make 5 or 6 football games and a few other sports a year so they are getting my money anyway.

Sometimes it take a measurement to get some people off lazy butts and give to they're school. Most people do well just to provide food for there family while others have plenty of money and could do more. But if you don't poke..........

$400 for 2 season tix for football, $250 donation, $100 for 1 MBB season ticket and $70 for football parking. So, $820 at a minimum.

Give back or simply give?

There is nothing to give back to the school for.
Simply giving.. that's a different story.

Usually between $1500 - $2000 depending on our Big Green donation and how many season tickets we get for each sport. If you factor in money spent on mechandise, food, and other things at games who knows?!?!?

RE: How much do you give back to your school?
Marshall has a system which others schools might also do. We run off a priority point system where you are awarded points for various things, 1 point for every $100 in donation to the Big Green Scholarship fund, 2 points for every $100 given to the Vision Campaign, 1 point for every $200 given to a specific sport booster club, a point for each year you get season tickets, and a few other things. Your priority point ranking determines the pecking order on away game tickets, seat selection when they do reseating, prime lot tailgating spots, etc. this has been in place for 30 years.

I won't say what I give, but I'm just outside the top 100 in total priority points and I've only been giving for 11 years. My goal is to be in the top 50 someday (I'm competitive by nature and want the team to do well so I can continue to talk crap on here). Short of winning the lottery that's about as high as you can get. It takes millions to get to the top 25.

With that said, anyone who takes the time to post on a board like this obviously cares about their program, and if you care you find a way to give something. A hundred a year is less than $2 a week. If you're young and just getting started in life, if you pack your lunch one or two extra days a month instead of eating out and throw that money into a bucket, that hundred, and then some, is available. Throw your loose change in a bucket and over the course of a year that will be at least a couple hundred.

RE: How much do you give back to your school?
if my last name was Favre or Hood, it would be substantially more....those guys step up w/o looking for viewership in return...

this town in general along with the scattered alumni do a pretty damn good job whilst being located smack dab in the middle of SEC country....

one of my closest friends never attended and supports more than his budget would allow in the realm of the average soul....that's his 'displaced mid-western body' in discovery how the 'burg can entertain and return...

passion from butts.....that's what I care about....

I tip my hat to all of 'em...regardless the amount or location...

at the end o'day, it's about pride, humility, and respect...a 'lost art' that is with too many espenises as the clock tick tocks....

RE: How much do you give back to your school?
It generally goes up and down in accordance with the way my personal economy is doing. Been a season ticket holder for football and men's basketball since 1979. Been a season ticket holder for women's basketball since before it was a cool thing to do in Murfreesboro. Season ticket holder for men's baseball for the last few years. Donations to the athletic association over the years have varied from 0 to a couple of thousands, right now and the last couple of years a couple of hundred dollars.

Expenses for tailgating during football, road trips (gas or transportation, lodging, meals) and away game tickets (both football and men and women's basketball) and merchandise, it probably equals or slightly surpasses the direct support.

RE: How much do you give back to your school?
I think the top category in this poll is way too low. Not for me, but for some I know who post here and give 5 or 6 figures.

I buy season tickets in football and basketball. I don't go to every game, as I live several hundred miles away, but I do go to some. I am a member of the Owl Club, not at the lowest level, but a couple of levels above that. I contribute to the University Annual Fund.
