A good idea but maybe each sport should have its own thread? Hburg has the ability to sticky threads.

RE: Future Football Schedule
Bump. I added the following rumor from JMU Duke Blawg. It is appears we will play WVU but conflicting rumors between JMU Duke Blawg and Purple Wave as to whether the game is in 2018 or 2019. Note 2018 already has an FBS game against NC State.

JMU Duke Blawg ‏@jmudukeblawg Jun 27
Was wrong- Dukes to open up 2018 and not 2019 against the Mountaineers.

JMU Duke Blawg @jmudukeblawg
Rumor - jmu football to play WVU in 2019 ?

I think 2018 & 2019 are 12 game seasons. Even so, that would be 5 home with 7 away, with 2 P5 to boot. That would lend credence to the @ WVU game being 2019..

2019 is a 12 game but when I looked online I didn't see anything about 2018.

The last I heard at a Duke Club event with the coaches in Richmond was WVU was '19 in Morgantown, not '18.

I'm glad to hear that. I really don't want to see two fbs teams in one season while still Fcs.

2019 is a 12 game but when I looked online I didn't see anything about 2018.

Someone on here last year said 2018 and 2019 were 12 games. But looking at the calendar looks like you're right- From the Sat before Labor Day (traditionally the opening weekend) to the Sat before Thanksgiving (traditionally the last weekend before the playoffs I count 12 Saturdays for 2018 (indcating 11 games) and 13 Saturdays for 2019 (indicating 12 games allowed).

Which means if 2018 is an 11 game season, there is zero chance JMU would be for its 3 OOC games @ NC State, @ WVU, and @ NSU. That would be 4 home games and 7 away.

So like others have said, the @ WVU must be 2019 unless:
-the @ NSU game is bought out or switched to @ JMU
-or there is some super secret moveup deal in place by 2018..

The ECU game is something to be excited about. Guessing you'll receive 400k to boot. Personal would love UMass to play ECU again.

Being that it's a 12 game season, I would not be opposed to having two FBS games in '19 as long as the second one is closer to being a winnable game. Traveling to Wake, Appy, or ODU would not be a bad gig at all.

FBS games are purely done to help schools pay for football. Until we are FBS, I really have no interest in playing two of these games in one season. We are FCS and need to play competitive FCS games. Win no matter where we play.

Yes I agree. I would rather see us schedule a tough Fcs opponent for a home and home then schedule a second fbs game. At least then we have a better statistical likelihood of winning.

Can you give a few examples of a tough FCS opponent who might do a home and home. Not advocating a second FBS game, but I think it would be easier to schedule the second FBS team. Tough FCS opponent--we already went through this with North Dakota. Please don't mention Liberty.
Cupcakes or second FBS game? I know the game I'd watch.

Anybody, tell me your sports soul does not die a little reading a post about maybe, just maybe, ODU or Appy will throw JMU a bone and play JMU's football team.03-pissed

"Closer to a winnable game"

Maybe Coastal Carolina will play JMU, we may need a little luck and Bourne moxie to that off...

Any given major five conference team that has made the playoffs at least twice in the last five years.
