Noah's Ark gets approval for tax credit
Federal court ruled that both secular and religious groups can apply for the tourism tax credit:

http://www.kentucky.com/news/state/article73971147.html

My only concern is that the Ark's projections of drawing 1.2 to 1.8 million visitors annually may be optimistic. Grant County only has a population of 25,000, and the Ark is projected to have at least that many visitors each week. That said, the Ark has been advertising nationally.

The projections probably are overly optimistic because almost every tourist attraction has projections that are, but it'll undoubtedly be very popular.

This obviously sets a precedent. It only takes a second to see Kentucky being forced to give a tax credit to an Islamic themed attraction. Consequences.

Haven't heard about this project until just now. Are they planning to have animals in the Ark too, like a zoo would perhaps?

Is the Ark mobile, and if so, can you send it to Houston just in case?

Think it would be viable?

I hope not..but..it opens up the door for ANY religious themed attraction to demand a tax break. I don't see how Kentucky could refuse otherwise. The precedent has been set. Courts LOVE precedents.

TBN owns the Jerusalem-themed Holy Land Experience in Orlando, so done well it could be - but it would probably need to be in Orlando or Southern California to be viable.

The whole thing is just strange.

Its strange having a "Noah's Ark" Theme Park and even stranger that it gets a tax credit.

And its ironic that the credit is 18 mill.
