Disagree with #9. GT doesn't have a basketball team.

Interesting. Is it the school/program that makes it a great job or is it the coach? Is it based on right now vs. historically? I don't agree that Wake Forest is that poor of a job based on just recent trends. Duke as #2? I doubt it after Coach K leaves. I can't argue against UNC as #1 though.

RE: ACC Basketball Jobs Ranked
Who is this NC State of which he speaks? Seems to me that a measure of the attractiveness of a coaching job is the eagerness with which other coaches seek it when the opportunity arises. I haven't seen that in Raleigh for a long time.

Duke is the number one job in the ACC because the degree from Duke is the most valuable and Duke has unlimited money to spend and can do so in private. UVa, and ND have similar advantages. The UNC JOB is fourth at best.
A JOB, includes things like salary, benefits, benefits for your family, access to medical care, access to an alumni network, access to a legal network, influence in a particular region or state or nation.
Duke has had a better basketball program than UNC for the last 80 years. K's won more national titles but when you look at the success of Duke coaches in basketball over the past 8 decades, it's close, but Duke is better.

Naye, these are the two highest paid ACC coaches:
Mike Krzyzewski – Duke: $9.7 million
Rick Pitino – Louisville: $5.8 million
Plus Louisville is the most profitable basketball in the NCAA!

Wuh? Can you read - I said the last 8 decades - I didn't say go back to WWI. I realize that for some of you that you don't get that there was a time before the ACC, or that the Southern Conference from 1933-1953 was the what is now the ACC.
In the last 80 years Duke is 1772 -674, UNC is 1760 - 604. Duke has won more, UNC has lost less. In that 80 year period, Duke has had one bad stretch with a coach 69-73 with Bucky Waters, an NC State assistant who had a military style at a time that it did not match with Duke. For UNC, Scott who preceded McGuire, never won a thing in 8 years between 46 and 52. We all remember Doh's three seasons at UNC.
I said it was close.
But of course please check my numbers, I could be wrong, but while you are doing so, make a point to check the records of Eddie Cameron, Harold Bradley, and Vic Bubbas. They tend to be forgotten by many who only go back 20-40 years.
Moreover, UNC-Ch played basketball before 1911 (the records they show are from the time of their membership in the South Atlantic Intercollegiate Athletic Association the SAIAA, one of the parents to the Southern Conference). Trinity College (now Duke) kept better records. However good documentation before WWI is difficult.

Yes, I can read what you posted - Duke is the better program. Going back 80 years is pretty much the entire history of both schools. Okay, at least 70-80% of it. It's also pre-WWII for crying out loud. Each has won 5 national championships within that time span. No matter. You can split the hair on how to define which program is more successful. Back to the OP, I stand by my opinion that UNC is the best job in the ACC.

Louisville #4 in the ACC? This list is a joke. Louisville is arguably a top 5 job nationally. No way Syracuse is ahead of us.

Not a slam dunk but I'd flip UofL and Syracuse. I'd probably move Wake up a few slots.

No real disrespect to Syracuse or Louisville...both are Top 10 Jobs Nationally and both are National Brands...fact is the ACC has 4 of the Top 10 Basketball Programs in the Nation.

Boeheim could be paid more, he never demanded it. Simply because the current coach does not demand the maximum value he could command does not make the job less attractive.
There may be other reasons to opine switching the rankings but payroll is not one that can stand on its own.
