The Dukettes took first place in the National Dance competition today in Daytona.

Cheer took 4th place in the National competition.

no easy task there for those guys and gals. Congrats and way to represent the Dukes! Well deserved honors for their hard work all year long.

Are the the champs in a national competition or national champs? I other words did they beat 300 colleges including UCLA, UNC, LSU, Ohio State, etc...

It just seems I hear a lot of dance and cheerleading teams thru the years....

Various organizing bodies sponsor various "national championships". UCA, UDA, NCA, NDA and it goes on & on. Not an NCAA championship.

Its not like cheerleading where they wear the schools uniform. Its essentially a costume that they wore for the routine.

Congrats to the fine ladies and gentleman. The routine aside, the girls screaming right next to the camera throughout the performance made me want to put an ice pick through my ear drums. Is this a normal way of showing support at these dance competitions?

Interesting. Looked like ballet, although I know nothing about dancing. Better than the gyrations we usually see to rap "music/noise" at most college basketball games.

So I guess this team actually has dancers. Well done.

I don't know about Cheerleading yet... but the Dukettes are back to back national champions.

I know most of you couldn't care less about that in terms of our athletic program... but Yay for this and congrats to those girls (and boy!) who work their butts off all season long to get there and win it all!

I love the Dukettes, but maybe it's time for a name change since it's a coed team?

Are our cheerleaders and dance team competing at the highest levels? Honestly because I don't have a clue do they compete against USC and Texas and U of Miami? Or are we the "fcs" of cheerleading too
