Pretty soon, these messages begin to sink in and take effect. The audience begins to adopt a worldview consistent with these messages, regardless of the degree of truth. It is a remarkable phenomenon."

So we got a dissertation on the rise of angry, populist Trump and his angry cult-like followers. I'll be waiting for Salon's follow-up piece on the rise of angry, populist Sanders and his angry cult-like followers. Although Sanders is probably "centrist" in the eyes of the Salon editors.

Liberals don't have a major cable megaphone like Fox News (there's MSNBC, but they're just not in the same league, viewership-wise).

But liberal anger is more festered from social media, academia/college campuses, entertainment (the View, Bill Maher, etc.) and other media channels. Go to any comments section frequented by lefties, even somewhere as innocuous as the Onion, visited mainly be liberals. The bogeymen are different but the rancor and hatred is evident.

Rioting and Protesting are two separate things entirely. Rioting is against the law and anyone who does it should expect to suffer the consequences.

So then the article says nothing special about the republicans. It could have just as easily said "Hillary is reaping the harvest of her BLM seeds"

I think it has far more to do with the rise of Facebook, Twitter and other online social media that's really just a never-ending sea of arguments and political "memes."

People are angrier because they're able to find someone or something to get angry about, literally every minute of every day, on their little smartphones. It put the Us vs. Them paradigm into hyperspeed. People will get into heated arguments with friends and family on Facebook during this election cycle, raising blood pressures, when they couldn't do so just a few elections ago.

Anyone who claims that Rush Limbaugh "spews hate" has never listened to Rush Limbaugh. LoL

I doubt that those kinds of social media have much of an impact since it's usually younger folks who use social media.

Conservative Radio and Fox News is far more influential in that it is watch more by older people who are more likely to be upset about the increasing diversity of the country.
