Waiting for a real answer-sometimes the sarcasm and lack of self worth on this forum is like a tidal wave.

Miss State played in Mobile a few years ago.
Missouri played in Jonesboro.
Instead of a check, these teams are demanding a return game.

Does seem an excessive # of away games at mid majors. Over how many years?

Yeah, I don't like it - nothing to gain & a lot to lose. UCLA yes, Missouri yes, Kansas yes, even Ole Miss OK but GSU & the like? I'd much rather play Miss St, how about South Carolina, Baylor, TT, TCU, OU, OK St, KSU, ISU or even USM - at least there's some tradition there.

I don't disagree, but those teams have to say yes back.

Ok add every other P5 school & all Mt West conference schools too - confident some will say yes.

RE: Future football schedule
We have 3 OOC home games in both 2016 and 2017.
We play UCLA at home in 2017.
We have home and home series with three different SEC schools.
I got no problem without our future OOC schedules.

I totally agree - surprised at some of the complaining on Twitter and on here. You try to get 7 home games with your OOC games being 2 wins, 1 50/50 type game and 1 stretch (i.e., UCLA, SEC).

Gotta look at the whole picture. We're mixing in H/H with P5's, with H/H with G5's in strategic areas, with an annual buy for a low G5/D2. Going for 7 home games a year, recruiting/marketing areas, decent SOS, no more than 1 buy game per year.
It's a solid strategy.

Using that strategy, if they do, would be hard to get 7 every year would it not?

I wonder what the buyouts are. This is one way to build in some safety into the schedule and still have some flexibility in case of a conference change.

I don't think so, b/c one of the games will be a SEMO or UT Chattanooga type game - a one-off, home only game. The others you just try to line out properly to get as many 7 home games per year as possible. Won't always work, but typically it can.

If we win these away games, it is an absolute blast. USA, GSU, ULM are all very easy drives to get to. The ASU game is a great game to go to as well. The best Tiger fans are the ones that make it to these away games and when we win away games, it is SO much fun.
Still remember the 1999 games against ASU in which they almost beat us on a last-second field goal, but it just came up short. Fun game, great atmosphere and, let's be honest, ASU fans are A MILLION times better than Ole Myth fans.

Most (ok, virtually all) first time head coaches want wins...vs ANYONE...as generally thats how they end up getting better jobs and more $$$.
It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that Fuente and now Norvell wants an easier/friendlier non-conf schedule...as if you can go 3-1 or 4-0 every year in conf play...you are basically guaranteed to play in a bowl game.
Somewhat similar to UCF Coach Frost...as he sees other AAC teams load up with 7 home games per year, something he wants UCF to do but meanwhile, UCF has some upcoming years with 3 P5 non-conf games, like next season:
@ Texas
GEORGIA TECH
@ Maryland
Frost wouldn't have done a non-conf schedule like that.
While in 2017 & 2018, Memphis is playing just 1 P5 program:
2017:
LOUISIANA-MONROE
UCLA
Div I-AA SOUTHERN ILLINOIS
at Georgia State
2018:
Div I-AA HOME OPENER
GEORGIA STATE
SOUTH ALABAMA
@ Mizzou
NOTE: 2016, HALF of the AAC (Cinci, UCONN, USF, Temple, Memphis, Houston) will have 7 home games this season (UH playing 7th game in Houston 6 miles from campus vs Oklahoma in the NFL Stadium).
