I think Myers will stay out there until the tying run comes to the plate. It's his to finish.

Annnnnnnd the tying run comes to the plate. 13-10, Myers out.

Singles scores two, and there's still runners on the corners. 13 - 10 now.

Panic move on Wayne's part. Jackson has been outstanding, but threw close to 100 pitches on Wednesday, and should be our starter on Tuesday. What's wrong with Esquivel or Jefferies or Orewiler again?

As usual, he waited a couple batters too long.

I suspect Wayne knows the likelihood of a game on Tuesday is low with the weather that's coming. He went with his best option and it worked out.

RE: Rice/UCF Game 3- Knight Rider
Thanks gawd. Nothing is ever easy with this team.

The offense finally showed some signs of life today, but it was against a couple really lousy pitchers, and once again, our failure to bunt consistently and get any extrabase hits is killing us.

However, a win is a win...and in our 3rd week of the season we finally won a weekend series and had a winning record for the week. Baby steps.

Game Ball #1: Glenn Otto (W, 1-0, 5.0 IP, 4 singles, 1 run, 1 BB, 8Ks) who came in in the 3rd inning with us down 2-6, and kept UCF scoreless until we managed to crawl all the way back and take the lead in the 7th. I believe the 5 innings is his longest outing at Rice.

Game Ball #2: Dayne Wunderlich (3-3, 2 BBs, 3 runs, 3 RBIs) for getting on base all five trips to the plate, and finding the holes on a couple run-scoring singles.

Game Ball #3: Dane Myer (2-3, BB, SF, 2 runs, 2 RBIs) capped a positive weekend series for him, as put together a string of positive ABs, and only struck out once all weekend (after striking out 10 times last week).

Onward and upward.

Given it's Lamar, I wouldn't be surprised if a Tuesday rainout is rescheduled for Wednesday.

The forecast is the same for Wednesday. It's going to be a wet week in southeast Texas.

Obviously take this with a grain of salt given that it is early, but of our next 12 games, 11 of them are against RPI top 50. The only one that isn't..... UH.

This actually might be a "good" year for Rice to struggle in the non-conference, as C-USA looks strong this year. After three weekends, we rate as the #4 conference in the country.
