The betting lines opened with our Monarchs an early 6 to 7 point favorite...of course we are not one of the better teams against the spread this year.

Earlier in the season I would have agreed with your assesment of lack of scoring outside of Freeman, but there is strong evidence that is changing. Both Talley and Stith seem to have found their form over the last four games. Both have been in double figures in each of those, save for Talley's 8 vs. WKU, and between those two over that span they are averaging better than 29 points. That is quite a bit of a load off of Freemans shoulders.

I will add that over the last two games ODU is making an effort to take the ball inside and force the action. I hope this trend continues. For a team that has virtually no presence behind the arc this is crucial. Against UTEP the Monarchs were 16-27 from the line, and against UTSA they were 19-32, in the WKU an Marshall games they were a combined 12-16. Granted, 35-59 is not a good %, but what our team needs is volume free throws.

I'm not sure if this was posted in another thread, but the team seems to be having more fun at practice. Maybe that's the reason for the change in play last week. (other than the weak opponents)

It's almost like some folks haven't been watching lately. Stith has been a monster as of late, playing as good as any big man in CUSA. Talley keeps showing flashes of what's to come in both scoring,rebounding and ball handling. One of these days he is gonna put two great halves together. He is so much better now then at the start of the season. And Caver has played really well and in control as lately. Look forward to seeing them all continue on the upward trend.

To be fair, we were playing the cupcakes of this league when the team started getting production from players not named Freeman. I love my team but until I see scoring by more then just Freeman against a good team I'm going to reserve my judgement that the team has turned a corner. I'll be more then happy to say I was wrong.

It would be nice if D. Taylor has a game as he did against UTSA

I didn't check the web site but ODU game notes said it would be on CUSA Digital Network.

Couple that with Bacote finishing his Senior year on a roll and we may be able to surprise some folks with a March run. Anything can happen in March!!!
