Alabama Dynasty Opponents
It's just amazing all the really great teams Alabama has beaten under Saban's tenure....I know a lot of people have Bama-fatigue, but this really is one of the more phenomenal runs in college football

They've beaten:

Florida '09- the last Tim Tebow-Urban Meyer Gator team to make a splash I believe...
Texas '09- Texas was loaded that year, and Alabama was able to take advantage of Colt McCoy's injury and win Saban's first Bama title
LSU '11- LSU had one of the best regular seasons in the history of the sport. Alabama was able to get into the championship game and hold them to 0 points
LSU '12- LSU was once again loaded and ready for a title run. A miraculous last minute drive gave the game to Alabama.
Georgia '12- Bama held off the Bulldogs in a classic. I think if Georgia wins, they would have beaten Notre Dame for the Championship.
Michigan State '15- The Spartans obviously weren't the best opponent, but they were B1G Champs with wins over Ohio State and Iowa.
Clemson '15- Probably one of Saban's best wins. Saban pulled out all the stops to hold off a late Clemson rally

That's a nice list of elite top notch victories over National Champion-caliber teams.

RE: Alabama Dynasty Opponents
you look at Urban Meyer though at Ohio St and formerly Florida..... look who he beat in the 3 title years....
2006- Les Miles, LSU, Jim Tressel, Ohio St
2008- Nick Saban, Alabama, Bob Stoops, Oklahoma
2014- Dantonio, Mich St, Saban, Alabama- and Oregon. 3 top 5 teams end of year...
that's probably 5 definite HOF coaches, and think when all is said and done- Dantonio will be as well....

Saban is the best, but ..... IMO he got lucky this year that MSU upset Ohio State and kept the Bucks out of the playoffs.

only thing though- if they beat MSU, they come out vs Michigan nothing like the way they actually did. They were a different team vs Michigan.

The Buckeyes wouldn't have made it to meet Alabama.

Nobody would have wanted to face the Ohio State team that beat Michigan. Not even Alabama.

And I am far more a fan of Alabama.

You mean the Golden Bud Vase? That's what you get when the networks reach out to the feminine audience. The Bridge Club set loved it! Tea anyone?

One team in Alabama has done that...

North Alabama won three in a row in the 90s.

Does that count?

I don't think we will see a three in a row event ever again, or at least not for a long time. The level of competition is much higher today.

For me, it's more than just beating quality teams. Saban has been Mr. Consistency during his 9 years playing in the best football conference and rising above the ever-increasing challenge of parity. His staggering numbers as head coach of the Crimson Tide:

Overall Record: 100-18 (.847)
SEC Record: 57-12 (.826)

Before we anoint Saban with Holy Oil, it is just as incredible what the "Bear" did at Bama over 25 seasons at the helm. I know you have to be careful comparing across different eras but these numbers have the "wow" factor:

Overall Record: 232-46 (.836)
SEC Record: 137-27 (.835)

IMO, Saban is already past the Bear. He's won 5 titles compared to 6 for Bear, BUT, four of his are consensus (AP and Coaches) whereas only 3 of Bear's are. Which means that Saban and Bear both have been voted #1 a total of 9 times by the polls.

Plus, two of Bear's claimed titles are extremely suspect, namely 73 and 78, years Alabama lost to the team that they finished ahead of in one of the polls.

And, Saban has won titles at two different schools as well, and in an era of greater parity, where winning a title is just more difficult. The SEC, for example, has been far, far stronger during the Saban years than it ever was during the Bear era.

I definitely thought the crystal football was unique....I'm not sure why they went away from that

They definitely sort of knee-jerked away from the BCS
