That has shades of 2005 when there was a six-way tie for second place

Does anyone remember the quarter finals where there combined differentials of the 4 games was 6 points? Maybe the greatest day of basketball ever. Ohio beat Toledo that day. I just remember walking back to the hotel exhausted from the stress of all the crazy finishes.

Ball State beats Central 75-63 in Mt. Pleasant. Another big road win for the Cardinals...

NIU takes down the Zips! What a day of MACTION in ESPN 3. How about the RedHawks and Rockets to cap the day. You would think the Rockets in an easy one but based on today's earlier games who can say!

NIU can't win on the road but we win at home. NIU defeats Akron 80-79. We needed that after losing five straight.

Akron hit 15 three pointers. So many good shooters.

Miami has won 3 of their last 4, and the only loss came when Eric Washington was suspended.

It's been a while since there was so little difference top to bottom in the MAC. No result should surprise anyone.

Actually, Ohio upset Kent. I recall that Kent tried to call timeout in final seconds when they were out of timeouts sealing game for Ohio. It was the best day of live basketball I've ever attended.

So there is a 5 way tie for the #2 seed (not taking tie breakers into consideration) at 7-5, and those 5 teams are only 2 games up on 5-7 #9 seed EMU.

6 games to go, this should be interesting.

Yes. My memory isn't completely gone:

Quote:On Day One in 2000, Ohio upset defending champion Kent State, a loss that denied KSU what could have been four MAC Tournament titles in a row. Golden Flashes guard Andrew Mitchell pulled a Chris Webber and called a timeout Kent State did not have, drawing a crushing technical foul.

At about 2 in the morning after the game, I saw Rufus and several other green-clad OU fans, who clearly had done little but celebrate the victory, standing outside the arena and almost hanging from the lamp-posts, chanting, "And Kent calls TIME!"

Was I surprised?

here's how tight the conference is right now- after losing today CMU is the #8 seed, a win would have put them at #2.

Technically, it was 'only' a 44 pt loss. They were down by 56 at 1 point.

Feels a little like last year when we won the final game of the season and we were the #2 seed. Had we lost that game to BG and we would have fallen all the way to five.
