There was the whole Austin Nichols deal
Now Bowen just sounds crazy. Chris Wallace would not be the one negotiating on the FedexForum's behalf.
How does the school not have attendance numbers and how does the school not know how much they were paid last year?
Maybe you aren't supposed to know everything.
Public University, Public building and I donate a decent amount each year. Maybe I do
He should have just said no comment or deflected the question. He sounds incompetent.

We have a pretty good deal. Just show up and play no upkeep costs
10k is an easy attendance number if a quality product is being put on the court
Tickets sold that year easily exceeded that number

Exactly. This is just another way to show how Pastner's lack of success is costing the program money. Attendance would increase substantially with a coaching change (unless it's a completely idiotic hire).
Actually it has to be a very good "name" hire to affect attendance enough to pay JP's $2.6M and new coach's $2.5M

Yep. Of course he has the data, he's just not sharing it. Read between the lines. Just because Chris Vernon can't doesn't mean you can't either.
Also, the school is a public university, with all employees paid for by the tax payers. They ain't going to have 20 full time office workers doing this. Schools barely get by now without raising tuition every year. The school is not FedEx or that fair haired child UTK.

If the turnstile count averages more than 6,000 per game, but is less than 10,000 per game, the $800,000 payment "shall be reduced for such Basketball Season in direct proportion to the shortfall," according to the contract. Also, if the turnstile count dips below an average of 6,000 per game for two consecutive seasons, the Grizzlies would have the authority to terminate the agreement.
So we're homeless with another year or two of this?
Maybe Bass Pro will let us move back into the Tomb of Doom...

the paper already has. the school refused to provide it.
I'm actually a Bowen fan and still know that is poor PR actions.

possible, but pretty sure I read the school told them they didn't have the data (which I don't believe)

I read it as a open records request has been made and not completed. Bowen said he didn't have the numbers(in his head or in front of him) during an interview.

How many of the ticket sales losses are due to people just deciding they don't want to go to Tigers games anymore and how many are due to disgust with Pastner's program.
If it's the former, a new coach won't matter. If it's the latter, a new coach does. If it's the right hire of course.

Grizz run the turnstile and they keep the records, not the UofM...and the Grizz are private, so they don't have to tell the CA, or the fans, jack ****
that's done by design, and it's smart business...they don't want the dirty laundry shown to the neighbors.

I think there's a pretty large contingent that have made the decision to not attend until Pastner is gone. A new hire won't instantly get it back to a 16,000 average, but it will put plenty more butts in the seats than what we have now.
I'm not saying I advocate this, but... If they were to hire Penny, attendance would increase substantially.
