RE: CCG Deregulation has passed
I highly doubt the Big 12 expands in the near future now that this vote has passed. The question up in the air is what compromise was the final one to pass.

It was the last compromise to come out. Leagues with less than 12 teams may hold a title game provided they play a complete round robin. 12 teams or more, you still have to use 2 divisions.

Does this mean we can boot Tulane?

I kid. I kid.

Nice, we can hopefully stop talking about expansion for a while. Im not sure a P6 will ever exist but if we can raise the floor of the conference a little bit and continue to win big bowl games while keeping 2-4 teams in the top 25 every year it will be hard to not respect this conference.

That's the exact opposite position the league should have taken if keeping everyone was the goal. B12 getting the championship game without adding teams is the best thing that could happen if you want the AAC to remain stable.

RE: CCG Deregulation has passed
Having a round-robin 'rematch' championship game is stupid... and is not congruent with the very concept of a championship game.

It's a do-over. A mulligan game.

It's as bad as playing a conference mate in a bowl game. Or playing a conference mate OOC.

There's just no good reason for it.

ACC gets stabbed in the back....throws grenade.

B12 gets what it wants (Texas)
ACC does not get what it went for in deregulation.

Perhaps UCONN AD Manuel (who casted the vote on behalf of the AAC) went rogue...

I agree. I like the progress this league continues to make as a group. It's made the seasons fun.

The immediate impact is that the B12 does not have to add teams to have a CCG. This is good news for the American. As for Bearcats fans, well, I guess you're stuck with us for a while.

Basically, Big 12 viewed title game with 10 and a guaranteed rematch as potentially better than expansion at the moment.

I think the implication is obvious... UT and OU don't want to muddy the waters for a quickie divorce down the road.

I know, voting against that seems like the last thing you'd want to do for the league. For certain schools in the league yes this passing is bad, but for the league as a whole it's great.

I think I heard a collective F%$K coming from Ohio right around the time this was announced.

Well, at least UC can now scale back down their athletic budget and throttle back on the football coach's salary.
