I don't know, I try to be level headed but I don't like these hires. Gillespie has had the job before and it didn't work out so why are we doing this again???

It was widely known then that Hatcher handcuffed Gillespie.

First I ever heard this. I did hear BVG overruled plays but not Hatcher.

I've heard it from several people...

According to GS twitter, David Dean (former Valdosta State HC) will be Co-OC and WR coach.

Dean and Gillespie have known each other for years. Gillespie was Hatcher's OC from 2007-2009 and Dean was Hatcher's OC from 2000-2006. They've been living in the same town, coaching, and playing in the same stadium for 7 years now. If the two couldn't work together, I doubt they would have given up sure things and taken the job.

4) A Furman Defensive Line Coach
5) A co-OC who was OC for a head coach who was fired

Not saying any of that stuff matters, just thought it was funny a lot of our coaches have backgrounds with rivals and the Dark Age of our football program.

Not to mention a secondary coach who we got from HS after being run out of town by Troy. At least from a PR stand point this is a huge gamble. Dean being a Hatcher disciple doesn't help things either.

We are the home for misfit coaches. 03-pissed
This has got to be the weirdest assortment of coaches and staff to come together at GS that I've seen. I'm not saying it is a bad thing, but none of them stands out as a great hire. There is no way to gauge how these guys will come together. I know some have worked together and have conncections to the area, but it just seems like a we really are struggling for money. I just hope they do have a plan and know how to institutue it, and the players buy into it and performance improves.

fingers crossed. 04-cheers

And a former Troy AD as Director of Football Administration.

I like the combination. They should engineer our BEST recruiting class EVER. Excited to see that Southern selected offensive coaches that will open this offense up and allow their talented athletes to work in space. I'm expecting a huge year once again for our RB's. We didn't utilize their pass catching ability this year and that will change moving forward.

Exciting times for Southern fans!

The RB coach resigned rather quickly from App last spring and coached at a d3 school last year.

Yep, that is a bit curious. Judging by your current roster of RBs, he's a helluva recruiter though.

Quite a few schools have 2 offensive coordinators. You'll see them listed as passing game coordinator and running game coordinator. I believe several P5's do it this way. Also means we can have one in the booth and one in the sideline. The role of play calling on gameday will be predetermined. I don't really see an issue here.

Typically if its a state school using the Co OC title is a way to get your guys a bump in pay. One with have that in title only while the other actually calls plays and such.

Why not just go all the way and bring back BVG as head coach, Chris Hatcher as OC, and Ashley Anders as DC? Oh that's right we wouldn't have money for that either.

Cause everyone would kill themselves.

However, I don't think there's enough money in the world to get BVG or his ***** wife to step foot in Statesboro ever again.

Not sure why Foster left App. I have to assume something of a personal nature. He makes mention on his Twitter about getting his life in order. We are glad to have him though. He is a very good recruiter

I swear. I bet our forum has at least 45 guys that could run an athletic department and football program at every school in the country.
