Sure looked like it Friday night.

Maybe he just had more help, looked like we were sending more defenders at Moody in the second half.

Probably quicker. Markel is stronger.

Different kinds of defenders. Both are really good though.

I think Martin was able to do a job on the OM player because he was taller.

I do think they are both good defenders though, but Martin did a much better job on Friday night.

Martin is a better on ball defender. He still picks up touch fouls unnecessarily. I would play which ever one can make shots.

Martin is listed at 6'2". Crawford is listed at 6'5". Both are good defenders. Enough offense to both be on the floor at the same time?

Not sure, but I know we made our second half run with Woodson on the bench. He hit a couple 3s once we got it close at the end but he was not in the game when we were trying to get back in it. IMO that should be his role, a shooter to bring off the bench. Let Martin or Burrell start in his place.

Pastner trusts Woodson for some reason. Woodson had zero assists and zero rebounds against OM.

I'm with you. Avery's game has progressed since last year, but he disappears out there. Better to bring him off the bench when the opposition inevitably goes to a zone defense. Which it will. Maybe that's the starting lineup change Pastner was threatening, in response to repeatedly slow starts by the team.

If he's "on" offensively, Burrell can do what Woodson does, and more.
And I love Martin. It was nice to see him get off the bench the other night. But I don't know if he should get the start or not.

I think there are times when having them both on the floor would really benefit the defense. I'm questioning whether they shoot the ball well enough (can't be worse I guess) or generate enough offense to play at the same time.

Martin face guarding Moody full court definitely changed the game for us. That was a good adjustment. Should have been done earlier.

People say that Martin doesn't shoot it well...

But at least he is WILLING to shoot it...You don't even have to guard Crawford at the 3 point line because he aint gonna shoot it.

He has a nice shot. Don't get why he doesn't shoot more. I got a feeling he's afraid he will come out if he misses like Iverson and Wilson

I'm more impressed with Martin every time I see him. It's been a long time since we've had a guy who fights through screens as hard as he does.

He was 1-6 with some bricks and ill advised shots that he WILL shoot in a tight game. Right now he is a defensive specialist. I do think he will be a very good 4 year player close to 1,000 pt club and lots of steals and assists.

I thought the same thing. I never saw him go under a screen.

One thing about JM he will give his all and do whatever it takes to win. The reason why we won back to back state titles is because our best player was our hardest worker and had a team first attitude.

We have three Freshmen that are playing a lot of minutes, and one of those three should be a senior in high school. I think they are doing pretty well considering their lack of experience at this level.

RE: Is Martin a better defender than Crawford?
Wrong question IMHO. ...is he better than Avery, defensively??? Definitely!! Avery causes a lot of bad situations by his lack of lateral footspeed and defensive anticipation. He also seems to misplay lots of screens. Avery lets his man get past him constantly (as does T Burrell). This causes many bad rotations to happen with our bigs. I don't think either Woodson or TB score enough to offset what they give up in points, extra fouls, etc on defense.

I liked the switch and really wondered why it didn't happen before. I would like TB before Avery also but I definitely liked martin for Woodson.
