Of course not if he's still an OC. But the Browns are 2-10. Does their HC Mike Pettine getted canned after this season? If so what happens to Defilippo? I see the Browns are 26th in Total offense and 30th in Scoring offense.
What happens? As if the Cleveland HC and staff get the boot?
You are aware of what OCs are paid in the NFL, right?

Yeah I read the avg NFL OC was around 1 million. But unemployed or demoted OCs aren't getting that. What if he isn't an OC anymore next month? If the Cleveland staff gets the boot does John get picked up as an OC somewhere else? Or would it be back to being a QB coach?

QB coaches in the league average around $450,000 if they have previous experience. Would JMU pay that type of coin if Everett leaves? It is Flip's alma mater...

If the path to being a head coach in the NFL is too difficult as a coordinator he may choose to get the head coaching experience that he needs at his alma mater.

From what I see most coaches like flip love the NFL society. They only have to please the owner and thats it. I like what flip is doing in Cleveland , if the media could just ignore the "Johnny football" thing he could be one heck of a Qb. Who would have thought Manziel would have thrown for 300 yards in a game this year, they have a weak line and no stable running back. And the drafting of these players were not on his watch. I would love for him to come here , but after the last hiring phase would he want too..

A lot of dreamers on here. Anything "might" happen...but drawing to an inside straight is not the way to play poker.
John will not be coming here. If not for the money and his ongoing professional interest in the NFL, he'll not be a candidate for the JMU job this year simply because the timeline for filling the anticipated opening at JMU does not jive with his obligations to the ongoing NFL season.
Okay, now all you dreamers can begin try to argue John will apply and interview in-between his weekly NFL game planning, or that JMU should delay the filling of EW's position until the end of the NFL season.

I wasn't dreaming. Was simply asking, as one of my posts started with "wonder if" and the other 2 had multiple ?? marks..

RE: John DeFilippo
Everything I am reading is that he will be given every chance to keep his job unless the New HC bring in his own people. Ownership like JDF from what I see.
All speculation at this point. He should get at least one interview for HC with all the openings out there but if he hasnt been mentioned yet then I am not hopeful of this.

JDF is not going to get a HC interview anywhere. He may be liked but there are a lot of proven OCs and DCs out there in front on him as well as unemployed HCs.

I am not saying, and he absolutely should not, get considered as a primary choice for a HC job but he should get at least an interview. Like we discussed when EW interviewed down south, sometimes an interview can just be about building your brand and your name recognition. If JDF's team isnt making phone calls to GMs and VPs right now they aren't doing there jobs. I think he should be able to be a 4th interview for some team, even if the interview is just to drive down the salary requests of the other 3 candidates.

He's a coach on the rise. The Browns supposedly love him and hopes he'll stay with the new coach. He'll get a HC chance in the next 5 years if he keeps getting so much out of his QBs.

Nice post! The haters like Old Dawg don't understand that Flip is very well respected in the world of NFL decision makers. Flip will either be retained by the new Browns HC or he will land another OC job in the next two weeks. He is a proud JMU alum and will always love our school no matter how things went down when he wasn't hired after MM was fired.

Yup, that's me....olddawg the hater. Hope he lands on his feet, but he really needs to make his next choice wisely. He's served his time w/ dysfunctional organizations.

Perhaps he would be open to coaching one more dysfunctional program... His alma matar? Any chance he'd consider it given the news of EW leaving?
