Next year, we will play LTU, MTSU, Marshall on the road. Talk about a gauntlet.

Our home schedule is going to be terrible for fans:

FIU
Rice
ODU
Vanderbilt
Houston Baptist
UNT

Sheesh.

At least we'll have 6 home games.

I doubt it. Two years from now Stockstill (Freshman of the Year) and Richie James (only FR/SO on the first two All Conf teams) will be juniors. Our fanbase expects to be better next year than we were this year, and even better following that as long as those two are in the program.

Finally, I'm not looking forward to seeing playing each of the five best teams in conference ... again ... .

Rice also has all the other Texas teams on the same rotation. UTEP, UTSA, and UNT all at home this year. I'd like UTSA and UNT to be off years so I could drive to one each year.

North texas would to split the 3 texas teams as well...now it's all 3 home, then road...seems stupid

No offense intended other than the fact that you are the newest and therefore probably the weakest team in the east. I am sure Sunbelt teams loved playing WKU back when we were transitioning and were a sure win. Of course we miss USM in the west which is a real positive for us.

North texas has not played Charlotte yet...

For UNT and Rice that seems like a huge scheduling issue. It makes no sense to make all Texas teams come to Rice and then Rice to go to all Texas teams. (Don't get me wrong from my home UTEP, UTSA and UNT are all quicker drives than back to Rice, but it isn't good for butts in the seats at HRS). I only hope that C-USA takes a long look at the schedules when UAB returns to the line up. A schedule where Rice has UTEP/UTSA, La Tech/UNT, and So Miss/UAB on a home and home rotation would be grand.

Southern Mississippi and Louisiana Tech are shorter road trips from Houston than UTEP.

So with MTSU and WKU coming back to Huntington our only chance at a loss is now So Miss in Hattiesburg. Of course we could lose to Pitt and Louisville out of conference. So 9-3 again at worst with a great shot at 12-0. I'll take it.

Sheesh.

Having a nearby (and beatable) SEC team come into your stadium doesn't seem so bad. I'd love to see Vanderbilt back at Rice again.

I keep hoping to see Rice play at UNT during State Fair. So far, no luck on that one. Played you right after the first time (on Halloween), and right before the second time.

UTSA projected home schedule

Alabama St.
Arizona St.
North Texas
UTEP
Charlotte
Southern Miss

We should have a decent attendance.

Akron and Louisville at home and Pitt on the road. I'm assuming we will play a FCS in the other game at home, which will give us 7 home games. Next year home schedule will be:

FCS
Akron
Louisville
Wku
Middle
FAU
Charlotte

Road will be

Pitt
USM
FIU
UNT
ODU

Man, it's crazy to see the lengths that La. Tech will go through to avoid playing ODU in football again. Just waiting for the check made out from La Tech's athletic department to pay off Ray Watts to surface, confirming the conspiracy.05-stirthepot

Uh...

Yes Marshall is undefeated against MT in Huntington with the humongous sample of 1 year.

Oh and that 1 year you had your best team in what a decade and a half at least?

With a different Rice coach though, a 2-10 Vanderbilt team still beat Bailiff.

I like this schedule. 6 home games, and 3 easy road trips to North Carolina.

Home:
Hampton
Massachusetts
Marshall
FIU
UTSA
Southern Miss

Away:
Appalachian State
N.C. State
Charlotte
Western Kentucky
UTEP
FAU

For the love of God! When do we get ODU in Ruston?! Still looking forward to beating their ass into the ground for last year.

Next year will be the 12th consecutive season we've been in a conference with a team from Louisiana. We've played football in that state exactly once during that time.
