Perhaps we shouldn't throw stones when a conference brother struggles a bit selling tickets from any specific source to a game hundreds of miles away THIS week or LAST week.

Really?

I guess UCF fans developed an acceptance and ease with lying/different version of the truth.... during all those years under O'Leary:

"On Sunday, UCF announced it had sold 5,000 tickets, less than one-third of its 17,500 ticket it is required to purchase for the bowl game. The UCF figure includes band members and player and team compensatory tickets — meaning fewer than 5,000 tickets have been sold."

Now I understand that many UCF fans bought tix through ticket brokers at better pricing and seating...but it wasn't that much more.

Dang! Caught in my act again with those dang statistics! Too bad the visual evidence tells a different story... I guess I'll just erase this from my memory and defer to you.

Don't Watch This If You Want Your Reality Disrupted

I'm willing to bet there are more in that stadium rooting for UCF than USF averaged in attendance last year, announced or actual.

Memphis fan, Are you really that threatened by Houston and Big 12 expansion that you're slinging mud on the AAC conference board?

Sorry, not turning the other cheek on this one. I'd feel the same as you if it wasn't for last week. However, after last week, Houston will be deserving of this facial rub.

Classless move by the Houston administration last week. Houston has THREE TIMES the time to sell these tickets as Temple did, and with LESS THAN HALF the distance.

Looking forward to the McMurphy tweet!

No one trashed you guys.. You guys bought 50 tickets to the conf championship game. if you guys traveled better you might have been in a better bowl game, just my opinion. Just something AAC has to work on.. Its going to take a few good seasons to do that. I think UH will sell somewhere between 8to 10k through school and alot more through other venues, we might bring a total of 20k to the game

On the news last night I saw that UH had ticket prices which dwarfed the average of all other in schools in Texas. Not that it is a good thing, it just happens to be the opposite of what this guy is reporting.

we havent struggled to sell any tickets yet, we'll start of there
they just started selling yesterday

read the article, there is ZERO Evidence the source of the ticket price is based on houston

Have you flown on these airlines? The have planes from a time when smoking was allowed onboard (as evidenced by the ashtrays).

It sure is funny watching schools that have accomplished 1/5 of what we have call us Cougar High. That would make Memphis "Preschool for the Addicted to Eating Lead Paint Chips"

No skin off my nose, the bowl system is a corrupt system anyway.

Outside of ECU and perhaps Memphis, the entire AAC would have trouble selling anywhere close to the team's allotment. We are building, it takes time.

And I am sure if the game were in Philly, with 5 days notice, these Houston fans would have come to Philly in droves. Just like they are snapping up Peach Bowl tickets with 3 weeks notice. Get real.

yeah, Atlanta is only 5.5 hour drive...and Memphis has lots of cheap flights to Atlanta...we could maybe do 19-20,000 fans if we made the Peach Bowl.

WHINNY TEMPLE FANS:
houston doesnt have 80 thousand fans ready to buy peach bowl tickets day1 at 6 time the box price so you have equated that to selling 50 tickets total on temple's first conference championship in 50 years....

bravo to you

I could write this same article and change out the nouns and it would be just as credible.

This guy appears to be talking out of both sides of his mouth.

He postulates that a lack of Houston fans is what is killing the prices, when he openly admits that FSU fans are disappointed with their opponent... yet somehow they're not responsible for their lack of enthusiasm and the drop in prices?

Well guess what, we're not exactly thrilled to be playing FSU either when we could have had ND or Ohio State...

Just show up and cheer on your team, Seminoles, because I know we will.

Get over it already. We were announcing to the fans that we suddenly had another ~3000 tickets available. There was nothing malicious about it. Sorry the truth hurt so bad.

They (this is essentially an FSU blogger's article) can reach all they want on crap like this, it still won't stop them from getting their ass beat on Dec 31.

Most long-time major bowls have large associations/clubs were members are required to purchase bowl tix every year...plus other businesses/individuals that buy tix every year (basically a season tix).

While some may have been bought in advance by scalpers, believe most advance tix sales, like most major bowls, fit in the above category.
