As I said before, I believe the fire and attitude shown by the players is a product of the coaching staff encouraging it this year. Without it, I think 2-6 gets worse. So it paid off, despite the fact that this is the only thing a whiner like you wants to talk about after, yes, our biggest win in program history.

Notice that your fellow fans are encouraging you to stop now. Did you notice that?

The energy was good, but it definitely needs to calm down moving forward. It was about to get really ugly out there. Your staff really needs to not interact with opposing fans/students either. That can go really bad if it continues unchecked.

I liked the move to be over waiting on our team to run out. I noticed ya'll came in early, and I guess that's why. We did the same thing to NDSU for their entrance (apparently we're the first team to ever do that) and it made an impact on them. Looked like ya'll did the same to us.

You guys can't have 5+ unsportsmanlike penalties again though. Conversely, the refs need to be more aware of the emotions in the game and get a better grip on it early. They did a pitiful job of managing the game Saturday.

I'm just happy people are waking up to this rivalry. Hope it continues to grow. Awful game from Southern, terrific game by State. Really improved from last year from the panthers thats for sure. Now lets go win some bowl games

Agreed, play with passion, emotion, get fired up, hype up on the field, totally fine with that. But realize that things are getting out of control when one of your players is ejected in the first half...THE FIRST HALF?! Loved all the emotion, hated that it was all coming from the GAST side. Ready to put this one behind me though, woo

Officials were horrific with controlling the game. But, we knew Southern was soft. We knew intimidation was a classic ploy we could use that would get into Southern's players head. Worked like a charm.

Your players need more time in the weight room. Stop sharing your weight room. Our football team has their own. I advise you all get your own too. Your players bowed down waaaayyyyyyy too fast.

They quit, rolled over, capitulated in the third quarter. Quite embarrassing. While watching the game, I remember almost hoping for more of a challenge. At least last season we scored a lot. We gave up a lot too, cuz we were bad, but we scored a lot. The GS players rolled over and played dead.

I bet they wish their players had enough fire and fight to get a few more unsportsmanlikes. Hope Fritz can get them back up for the bowl.

Other than I don't agree with the unsportsmanlikes (the foundation of this program was built on "Do Right" - Erk's only rule), I do agree with the rest of your post. Although I'm not sure they quit rather they never showed up. Maybe the team was checking on things to do in Mobile. And no doubt Gast was motivated after Paulson North and everything that happened last year. I will say this - I have never seen a Erk, PJ, or Monken team play so uninspired at home.

Great game from GSU no doubt about it. Y'all talk as much as you want, it is tiresome to me how much crap GS fans have dished out to state fans over time, so those chickens have come home to roost.

I had a chance to converse with 1 state fan after the game, he was very nice, excited for y'alls win and thankful that we missed on a couple of those long TD passes that could have made it more of a contest.

For now I hope both teams kick some ass in their bowl games, and we'll see you in ATL next year, I'll be shocked if its a similar result.

I'll also add this - Paulson was ROCKING for that first series when Ga State had the ball. Credit to them for converting the multiple 3rd downs (foreshadowing things to come, oy). But when Dobson got that INT, I thought the place was going to explode.

Definitely a fun environment at least for the opening quarter 04-rock

You are not a better team. You were definitely better on Saturday though, no doubt. But we finished with a better record and had no losses to FCS or first year FBS programs, so I'd say we have had the better year. And that's with an anemic passing attack.

We're also not soft, just not as good as we were last year. Our defense wasn't soft either, your offense just did a really good job of exploiting mismatches and finding holes. That kind of stuff happens. I was worried about playing back and giving Arbuckle time, because he's really good at picking apart coverages given the time to do it.

In the first half, outside of penalty assisted drives, neither team really did anything. We were doing what we needed to bottle you up and you were doing the same. Second half playcalling, adjustments, and execution made the difference in the game. We did a lackluster job in all areas and you guys did a fantastic job.

Will be looking forward to this game next year. You reap what you sow, and it's obvious that last year we wrote a check we couldn't cash this year. Better hope your team doesn't do the same.

This is the most I've wrote about the game since Saturday, so I just wanted to say again, very good game. Shook a few fans' hands on the way out and they were very pleasant to talk to. The fans in the stands did a great job supporting their team, and I'm sure the team appreciated the efforts of those who made it to Statesboro.

It was probably deserved by the student section, and I won't defend them because I know how bad they can be. I was disappointed to see just how bad the back and forth got on the sidelines without someone getting involved to break it up. Definitely wasn't impressed with Georgia State's players constantly chanting "ATL HOE" either. They definitely backed up all of the talk though, no argument there.

gast appears to play much better in the hostile environment rather than at home in front of no one. the next time we play them at home we should limit the crowd to 5000 and make everyone stand in the concession line during the game.

We dodged a few bullets with the long dropped passes, but that's exactly what we were gambling on happening. And it worked. I was grateful they didn't go for scores. But even if they had connected and it turned into a game, I think we would have prevailed in a shootout. Our offense was doing whatever it wanted to do in the second half, and as quickly as it wanted. Arbuckle was a surgeon.

haha. maybe one day ga state will be a good enough football team that a win over you guys will be worth something. I am flattered that we are considered your biggest win in the program history.

You must have some inkling of how pathetic you sound. You must.

is this not being called the biggest win in your programs history?

Just saying that I am flattered that our program is good enough to be considered that for you guys. Thanks for the compliment.

Can't read this because I'm still blinded by the scoreboard. Hail State! HAIL STATE!!! LOL!!!!!!!

You know what? I'm not sorry about the personal fouls. Intact I'm proud of it. I'm proud that our guys were fired up enough that every single play mattered that much to them. I love that they weren't just happy being ahead. I love that they cared enough on every down to have that rage against the opposition in them. God knows southern didn't, instead they came out looking like little b**ches, bowing over and letting us have whatever we wanted. You know, the only thing that pisses me off about the whole thing is that, had that not happened, I swear to god it would have been a shut out.

Intact?

What are the chances that saint or whatever his name is comes out of retirement and graces us with his presence? I am surprised the Appys aren't in here to pile on. You know things are bad when Appy is feeling sorry for us. I do want to congratulate Stan on the win. Enjoy it.

Going to say this one time.

AUP:

I've seen it from both sides so far.

Clean it up before I start issuing warnings.

That's really sad then. Your players were outsmarted, out-muscled, and frankly weren't impressive. WE HAD MORE RUSHING YARDS THAN YOU!

You guys have four running backs on the field at any given time and got popped in the mouth repeatedly. We even turned our safeties into linebackers. Fire your offensive coordinator. That gimmick of an offense is finally brought to light.

OR...

We had our post-season destination locked up, had already played our super bowl of the year against UGA, and had been focused all week on our early-announced bowl game. GaState on the other hand has been looking forward to this game since the embarrassment of last season when we couldn't run out the clock because touchdowns kept getting in the way. The GaState players were clearly more "up" for this game, as it was their super bowl, the biggest game of their season, and the biggest game in your programs small history.

Congrats, you won a regular season game. Yay for .500 seasons!

It's really sad that you couldnt get up for this rivalry game at home.

LOL

There's a big urban gardening initiative that's being pushed in Atlanta. Some of our players are really passionate about it. If your student section was giving our team grief over our squash yield, then I can understand the fire we came out with in the second half.

Also, any conjecture on the fans' part that the team was not "up" for this game is purely that...conjecture. There is no indication that's the case. This is something fans say after losses. Were you people in the locker room or talking to players? There is every indication we were the superior team on Saturday and no tangible indication it was because your players didn't think we were important enough. At a certain point in the second half their team ceased to be "up" for the game, sure, because they were getting slaughtered. That's understandable.

This guy's pulling out all the defense mechanisms. It can't possibly be true to him that Georgia State was simply better.
