Stupid illinformed post. A 5th string walk-on freshman is making his first start with 10 days of practice.

Its not an excuse its facts and math. Making a conclusion about a program's potential due to 1 games performance after 3 qbs go down to injury is plain stupid.

100% agree those fans are dillusional. NIU has no shot at the B12, but this game does not reflect the other 12 games this season.

RE: NIU!
It would be nice to see NIU be able to move up in conference affiliation. They have had sustained success - even with a string of backup QBs this year.

The MAC is a set of residential public universities that along with the B1G schools in their territory are the major public schools in their states. For NIU its where there institutional fit is.

Chicagoland has a lot of MAC alumni.

Northern Illinois might find themselves in a P5 conference. The Republican Lawmakers of Illinois wants another Illinois public school be in either a Big 10 or another P5 conference. The only school that could do it right now is Northern Illinois. The lawmakers want either Illinois State, southern Illinois or Southern Illinois-Edwardsville in a P5.

Read it and reap. These things are not made up. Baylor got tied to the Big 12 because of Texas politics. Same thing could happen to Illinois that they have to be tied to little brother in the same conference.

RE: NIU!
Illinois doesn't need a second public university in the B1G.

What it could do is consolidate its system. Have an NIU system in the North and an SIU system in the South.

NIU-DeKalb
NIU-MaComb (WIU)
NIU-Quad Cities (WIU)

SIU-Carbondale
SIU-Edwardsville
SIU-Charleston (EIU)

That way you have NIU & SIU controlling the Northern & Southern rule areas respectively. They can reduce/manage offerings at the branches to reduce competition.

It doesn't make sense to have Eastern and Western Illinois in a state that has North/South axis to it.

RE: NIU!
NIU was rolling into the MACC with a walkon fifth string QB. That's a great way to define a program. BG won the game and nothing against them but NIU's QB didn't attempt one pass over five yards all night. It is what it is but obviously not ideal. Six straight division titles is a better gauge than one game...

Not a bad idea, might help the directionals, they can't continue to lose enrollment like they have and suceed.. and UofI, UIC and ISU are doing well thankfully..

All ribbing aside, I've been of the opinion that NIU wouldn't be a terrible get for the American Conference. I think you guys could come in and be competitive in short order. Last night just wasn't your night; you had a lot of injuries especially at QB. I get it. Like I said, I was just funnin' you guys.

haha yeah, we'll see. At this point I fear NIU is doomed to stay in the MAC forever. It is what it is ya know? Also, I have no ill will towards Louisville. I've been to a game there before, it was a good time.
