I hope there is a change in the starting lineup.
I would choose Cokley, Lee, Brown, Baxter, and Williams....as starters.

I just can't see a 6'6" forward having much luck against our front court. It looks like he can shoot the ball a little bit, so he may extend our guys I guess. Person worries me. He is a pure scorer.
Gorilla, who is your pg with that lineup?

I'll bet Coach doesn't do that again.
Did UAB keep the Mike Davis bus ?

Nope. I'm still for taking a wait and see approach at the moment. If anything, subbing Williams in for Baxter could provide the biggest spark offensively to the starting lineup. We would be tall outside of Norton at that point, and we would have 4 players on the court who can make 3s at a reasonable rate. Cokley provides a huge spark, and he can be the focal point of our offense when he comes in.

"Being tall" didn't help us against Alabama St. "Being tall" didn't help USF against Troy in their home opener.
We need to be in correct positioning on defense & we need to move the ball on offense. Being tall will help when we do those first two things correctly.

I re-watched the game last night and when Williams and Lee are on the floor they are super long and disruptive. It didn't always turn in to turn overs but it put their guards under a lot stress in the passing lanes. I counted 10 occasions (mostly 2's but some 3's) that ASU made that were highly contested and pressured. Our defense wasn't terrible against them for most of the game. They were just shooting the lights out.

ASU didn't shoot all that well, but they took a lot more shots than UAB.

Teams feel they can out-quick us, especially at the guard positions. Lots of drives to the basket to either get layups, fouled, and easy assists. Dribble-drive penetration has killed us. When you back off to stop it they shoot the 3...

We took 42 shots from the line and only made 27... that was one of our strengths last season. Our size is going to get us to the line a bunch this season, but we need to take advantage of it.

We used to do that when we had Aaron Johnson running point.

We need an AJ type player at point. Until we have a play maker at that position we will struggle in every game. Just like last year, except for our 1 week run.

Well it's been a while since we've done this.
AJ freshman stats- 5.2, 1.7rpg, 4.1 apg, 2.6 tpg, 43.6%/30.4%/78.1%
Norton freshman- 7.2, 2.1, 3.8, 1.8, 38.8/39.1/84.8
They are different players, but the stats are very comparable at the same time in their careers. Norton received about 3 minutes more per game too. Norton can be a solid pg, there is a reason coach has him starting, and it's not his daddy.
