Think App and Georgia Southern are pretty neck and neck, with stAte clearly ahead of the two.

Then USA.

Then whatever.

Still hard to separate the top 3. Sagarin has GS a nearly 6 point favorite over Ark St so I'm sticking with the three way tie. I would expect Phil Steele to have GS #1 after the Troy win but his site hasn't been updated.

1a Georgia Southern
1b Ark St
1c App St

4. USA
5. ULL
6. Troy
7. GaSt
8. Idaho
9. NMSU
10. Texas St.
11. ULM

I think any given week any of the top 3 have a legit case. Ark St sits there now but we looked awful good yesterday.

Any particular reason some think there is large separation between Ark State and everyone else besides the transitive property applied to GS vs App and StAte vs App?

Looking at the overall body of work I think GSU Eagles actually may have it right.

For the same reason we got in an uproar last year when people tried to drop us in power rankings last year, they have yet to lose a game in the conference. Therefore you have to put them ahead of both us and App. How big that gap is I won't wager a guess.

I will say that us and App are pretty even.

RE: New Power Rankings: 11-15-15
I don't think there is any doubt...

1- Arkansas State...only undefeated SBC team... will win SBC outright
2- App State...only SBC loss to stAte...destroyed GaSo
3- GaSo...lost too Appy, can't go higher unless 1 or 2 loses or beats UGA...not very likely but possible
4- USA
5- ULL
the rest

Yes I'm being a bit of homer as some others here are...but you can't deny that the lone unbeaten is not number 1

1. stAte,
2. App,
3. Ga So -- all pretty close but stAte is undefeated and App beat Ga So. so I would say the pecking order is correct.

4. USA and 5. UL are next tier

6. Ga St. and 7. Troy to follow

8. NMSU and 9. Idaho

10. Tx. St and 11. ULM

If Ga. So beats Georgia then I will make them 1A like GSU Eagles wants!

And I'm going to say it, since no one else will: stAte would crush GS if they played this year. Bottom line. I said it before the year started and I'll say it again: any team with the talent and athleticism to stop the option will take one-dimensional GS to the woodshed. That's what happened at both West Virginia and Appalachian State, and what's going to happen at Georgia. Call me a homer, but I've been saying it since the board was full of people saying GS was going to beat WV and it's held water thus far.

RE: New Power Rankings: 11-15-15
"Athletic" defenses always stop the TO...except when they don't.

UF was a **** offensive team at the end of 2013, but was very SEC on defense. We got 400 yards rushing when we didn't play all that well. Also see Alabama in 2011. That D was full of first-round picks. We were the only team that could get that defense to budge all year.

Also, take a look at Navy...ranked while they keep playing defenses with bettet athletes. Every fan of a team playing at least ok defense thinks they are too "disciplined" or too fast to give up yards to the TO. Often they are wrong.

That's like saying when Ark St plays an athletic team, they get killed. See USC and Toledo(not sure how athletic they are)

I think Ark St fans are confusing power rankings with conference standings. If Ga Southern beats UGA, they couldn't move past Ark St based on your criteria.

Given the number of games that have been played, the computer models are highly accurate. The Massey composite is a combination of all the computer models and it has App at 44, GS at 48 and Ark St at 65.

C'mon, man. The computer models are NEVER highly accurate. That's just silly. Especially Massey/Sagarin. Literally no one takes them seriously. They satisfy numerical curiosity at best.

Not sure why there's supposed to be a big gap between Troy and Idaho since they have the same record and Idaho beat Troy in Troy, but I can't argue with anything else.
