Just said I'd rather have them over Coastal Cackalacky. Don't really want either.

It brings me great joy to know that you'll probably see your team lose in our beautiful on campus stadium before you see them play in their own.

And THIS coming from a fan of a team in in the Big Freaking South. Whooptie-Do.
It would be one thing if we were seeking an invite, but technically we will be in the Sun Belt next year, and full members in 2016.

We are not window shopping with our faces pressed against the glass.

They liked to say that App and Georgia Southern, while good additions, wouldn't be able to compete right away in football and most other sports. The good news is that what people have been saying and will continue to say won't matter. Southern went 8-0 in conference last season and App is 7-1 overall this year. Speculation will reign until 2017. 04-cheers

I'm sure the CCU stadium plans will turn out just fine, but what I want to know from CCU fans is how is next year's schedule coming along? Right now, is it true you've got Furman and Liberty? The rest of the Little South has dropped you guys? Are you going to take NC Central off out hands so the U can come to Boone or what?

Not ragging on CCU at all. Maybe if you were not too busy booking your flight to the national championsip game to see App play, you would notice that I have been very clear about supporting them. Even in this very thread.

My comment was directed at your statement about people not expecting App and GS to be successful last year.

Yes to the best of our knowledge, The Big Sour Grapes Conference, is telling everyone not to schedule us in the immediate future. The only team on our schedule as of right now is Liberty, and that is due in part to a contract with ESPN News, to broadcast the game. Not like it is the worse thing in the world, as the Big South is pretty average at football.

Here is an article from today with updates: http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/sports/...37097.html

Liberty, Monmouth, and PC are still on the schedule. GWU and CSU are question marks. KSU is gone.

OOC Furman, Central Connecticut State, Florida A&M, and Hampton are supposedly still on as well.

This is a comment I would love to engage in and develop more.

I was basing my statement off of the comment by Dr. DeCenzo saying "we have the funds as apart of our reserve to certainly cover it". Obviously we are going to secure funding elsewhere to minimize the impact the expansion has on these reserves.

http://www.myrtlebeachonline.com/sports/...66269.html

You are right its not really $25 million in liquid assets the correct statement would have been $61,524,580 in cash and cash equivalents as of June 30th 2014. Is all of this sitting in a fund earmarked for football, no.

http://osa.sc.gov/stateengagements/coast...(CAFR).pdf

Where are the sources of funding? In the same article I do see where it says private donations and additional sponsorships. Anything else?

20k is in that range so I'm hoping for it. I think we will have the additional suite capacity in addition to whatever the final 15-20k seat number is.

Please be 20,000 minimum. I know you are space constrained but I want to see all SBC team average above 20,000. I expect y'alls expansion to look great based on what you have now.

Including suites I would expect in the neighborhood of 21-22k. The built the stadium with the ability to expand to 20k so I think we go to 20 plus another 1-2 that they squeeze in to make the conference happy.

I hope that's right - I think they are keeping things a little open right now. I've heard that it could be 20,000 seats or could be 20,000 capacity with other areas like the suites and SRO to get to 20,000. I think the architect is really examining everything now but they are looking at lots of different options. But I want 20,000 seats plus whatever the suites and SRO provide.

Ms. Bowie, the CFO, stated that they are planning for 19million for the expansion and the total seat will be between 20-21k. Across hwy 501 they have land in case the need for a larger stadium occurs. There has also been talks (on coastalfans.com) about potentially building a new basketball arena a few years after the football stadium is complete.

Prior to the HTC center there were plans to build a nice 6,000 (or so) seater in partnership with a professional hockey team. Not sure if Coastal would build something larger on its own or seek to partner with another group or local government.

My dream would be a new arena in Myrtle Beach proper used for Coastal basketball games but also capable of hosting conference bball / vball tournaments, concerts, truck shows, what have you. I think it would be a hit.

The mayor of MB runs the beach ball classic, a big high school basketball tournament, so I could see him being on board.

There is a great spot right across the street from the convention center, it used to be a shopping mall but is now just pavement and an eye-sore. I believe local shady land owners B&C own this so not sure if the city / county / Coastal could acquire it.

Careful what you wish for when it is off campus facilities. It's hard to keep students interested if they have to drive to get to a game.

Yeah, off campus is a slipper slope, College Students, especially Greek Organizations, don't like to drive to football games. Limits the ability to party.

Still counts. Off campus facilities for any sport can lead to less student involvement. Kids want to party, hard to do that if you have to drive 20+ miles back to campus.
