Oh they'll warm something alright, just don't know yet if it'll be our hearts or the coach's seat

I can't wait to see the women this year. I heard that Coach Carlsen has them gunning at full speed down the court. Should be fun to watch. I keep having this feeling that Lisa Carlsen will turn NIU into one of the top MAC teams in a couple years.

Tickets arrived today! I am now ready and excited. Kind of a cool thing they did with the tickets this year, black and white photos (photo-shopped) of each player with a copy of their autograph on each ticket, even Monty got a ticket.

Looking at the schedule once I got my tickets...something is wrong if we're not 5-2 to start the year.

That sounds reasonable, that opening tournament in DeKalb is kind of tough though. South Dakota and NIU would be pretty equal matchup on paper, and CS Northridge and Wright State, NIU would be a minor favorite in probably. Id be happy with 2-1 there. But wow, NIU only plays 2 teams with a better than 200 Massey ranking in the non-conference, and that is Missouri and Ohio State. Now normally you would say, we should dominate, but he has NIU at 211, so its hard to get too confident.
And huskie, I live in Indiana and got mine today, I ordered pretty early though, I am sure yours will be there tomorrow

Here is how Massey sees NIU's non-conference games, listed from toughest game to easiest. The only bad thing is 3 of NIU's 5 hardest non-conference games come in the first 5 games of the season. Also have put Massey's prediction next to each game
1. Ohio State #19 L
2. Missouri #141 L
3. South Dakota #225 W
4. Wright State #245 W
5. CS Northridge #269 W
6. Idaho #280 L
6. Illinois-Chicago #288 L
7. Florida International #301 W
8. Chicago State #383 W
9. Roosevelt #1212 W
10. Judson #1549 W
11. Eureka #1738 W
12. Indiana NW #1807 W

Basketball Video 2015-16
I went to the women's exhibition game today. Wow, are they going to turn some heads this year (literally and figuratively)! Lisa Carlsen has them playing like a well oiled machine, running and gunning down the floor, in mid-season form and the season hasn't even started yet. The Huskies beat St. Francis 86-54.
Big change in women's college basketball this year. Four 10 minutes quarters instead of two 20 minute halves. 2 shot penalties when the opposition gets 5 penalties in a quarter. Penalties start fresh each quarter. There are other changes too.
Stopped at VCB before the game. LOTS of new stuff. Now I'm starting to spend my wallet at VCB again. Nice things.

I'm glad Bennett is out. Her whole NIU career was weird and pretty bad.

When you get to MAC play its almost a top 150 team every night at least, so the SOS will be immensely helped out by the conference. (And before anyone types it, I know I know, SOS doesn't matter for the MAC hah)

It doesn't matter in terms of bids...but it generates ZERO excitement for fans.

I am not happy with it, but I kind of understand it. This team is so crazy young this year, that I think Monty was a little worried about starting things off too overwhelming. But another factor too is that basketball scheduling is becoming increasingly difficult for mid majors. Bigger schools are not even returning phone calls now. With how strong the MAC is right now, I don't mind NIU not having a ball buster of a non-conference.
